Chapter 320 - Truths (1/2)
It did not cross his mind before that Lyn would have such thoughts; then again, Allen was always under the impression that she did not care about him. No, it's not like she didn't care about him; it's most likely the opposite. It's because she cares so much that if she intervened, too much things would go wrong. ”Your sister did this.”
Allen was not the type to point fingers at people. But one of the things they discussed when they first got engaged was this, to be honest with each other. Lyn didn't look surprised at all, and the girl even sighed.
”I figured, eldest sister went to visit you. Did she complain about it, about you helping Kazuya and me?”
”You heard from him what happened correct?”
”I did,” her gaze dimmed. ”Eldest sister is using despicable means to get to Kazuya.”
”Your sister isn't to be taken lightly though her actions on this matter are foolish. She's very clever on the battlefield. If she uses her brains, then it wouldn't be impossible to get what she wants.”
At that comment, Lyn, who was tying the bandages, tightened it, causing him to sigh. ”Lyn, dearest. Surely you understand what I mean?”
”I do get it, I do. But it's still not a nice thing to hear..”
”Lyn.”
”Allen, if I were to confront my sister directly. Which side would you take?”
”Yours.”
Lyn laughed, ”At least think it through, will you?”
”Is there any need? If you need me to do anything, tell me straight up.”
Lyn's gaze softened, ”You still want to stay by my side? After everything, even though you know the truth about me. The past few years, I've tricked you. I've snuck out a lot and evoked fear in people. I've stained my hands in more ways than one. When my identity is revealed, people will speak out regarding the things I've been up to for the last few years. They'll understand that the abandoned Princess is not as weak as they all think. When that happens, will you still stay me?”
When Allen first heard of the horrific things that Lyn had been up to. He did not know what to think. He didn't know she was capable of it. But the signs were always there.
When they first met when she was in an innocent age of ten — her interest towards the battlefield was peculiar.
”I've been covered with the dust and blood of my enemies so many times now, that I've lost count.” Lyn trailed off, ”Kazuya he..doesn't know everything just yet. When he finds out the truth, I wonder how he would see me. Sometimes I wish I could go back and erase the things I've done. It's foolish really, now that I know happiness, I...”
”That's enough,” Allen cuts her off, and Lyn laughed.
”I'm sorry, I've been ranting, even though I came here to take care of you.”
'Lyn, I love you please..please forget about all this and come with me...' But Allen refrained himself.
...
It seemed like Lyn didn't come here alone. Or rather this Rhys must have a peculiar habit knowing where his fiance was all the time. Truthfully, Allen didn't want to send her away with him. But he knew better than to refuse considering her obvious weak state.
Allen didn't bother to knock; he knew the King was not the kind of person who would care about formalities. The King was speaking to other people when he came inside, which he immediately dismissed.
