Chapter 314 - Understanding (1/2)

”Master, I don't understand.”

Ralph chuckled, ”That's fine. Since it's you, you'll understand in due time. Now then,” he took something out of his pocket. ”Care to do this quick job for me?”

Lyn looked at the piece of paper and sighed, ”Master, why are you always so lazy?”

”Now, now, this is for your own good. You want to broaden your experiences, right? Getting more experience using your blade will help.”

”You're sending me out despite knowing my condition. I don't know whether I ought to praise you or not.”

”Indeed, but this is yet another trial. Relax, this shouldn't be too dangerous. I'd never give you a job that will get you killed.”

Lyn looked at him, dumbfounded. What a liar! Doesn't he remember how the last job, the Snow Kingdom one ended up?

..

On the outside, people described her to be apathetic, stoic even. But on the inside, she felt things very strongly. Whenever it comes to her emotions, they would rage inside her like a storm. Whenever she became too attached to people, Lyn would try to shrink away even more. She was afraid that her feelings would come spilling forward even though she has somebody special to her now, somebody who means the world to her.

Lyn never knew how to express it, nor did she want to bother people with her feelings.

The feelings that she herself doesn't understand, how could she possibly bother anybody else on it? Rather than cause people problems, she would rather keep it to herself. She would hide away in her closed shell, and not let anybody else.

But that slowly changed after she met Kazuya. Lyn slowly started to realize that the weird ones weren't Kazuya and the Sound Kingdom people. But there were people like Pupillam, the General and her father too. So many other people Lyn came to know about along the way cared about her. At the start, Lyn couldn't comprehend why? Why do these people care about her? Why do they want to learn about her so badly? Why were they so concerned about her feelings?

So many why's? But Lyn didn't have any answers whatsoever. All she had is more and more questions. For the longest time, she had sealed her heart and locked away all her emotions. Even when her living circ.u.mstances improved. People said she was as cold as a ghost.

Masters' idea of a quick job always turned out to be something disastrous. Right now, with the current situation, Lyn knew that once again, people would get angry at her. Is this what Shioka was talking about before?

The so-called people who saved the villages instead of her brother and the others... 'Why are they all wearing strange masks? What's more, their eyes...' Lyn had been observing them for the last few minutes and quickly understood that they weren't human.

Lyn glanced around; they've surrounded her. She was out of breath; Lyn had never had to fight with this many people before. While her skills have improved a great deal, even she couldn't deal with this many people.

All of a sudden, they rushed towards her at lightning speed.

They must have knocked her out since Lyn remembers falling to the ground with a massive thud. When she turned her head, Lyn noticed familiar people.

Yet her vision was still slightly blurry. The first one she recognized was Pupillam, staring at her wide and worried eyes. One hand holding the other, as if she somehow hurt himself. Lyn's not sure why she's so surprised. Of course, naturally. She would be the first to welcome her - where? Where was she? Then, looking around at all the other faces, she recognized the others, all except one.

No, he was there. The surrounding soldiers all seemed to make a path for him. It was the person she wanted to see.

”Idiot! What were you thinking? Geez.....”

Oh, now that the person got closer, she knew it wasn't the person she wanted to see.

No, this person...this person isn't .....
