Chapter 290 - I dont understand (2/2)

”Mister, are you a knight?”

”I'm a Prince.”

Lyn looked at him, suspiciously, ”A Prince?” He certainly doesn't dress like one. Though he was no longer wearing the blood-stained clothes from yesterday,

Arthur laughed, ”Well, I do understand where you're coming from, kid. But you shouldn't judge someone based on appearance.”

”I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way,” Lyn trailed off. ”I just, I'm a bit bored here, to be honest.”

At that comment, Arthur burst into a fit of laughter, ”You are an honest child.”

Lyn looked away, embarrassed.

”Child, there are a few books in my bag. They are quite long, and the text is quite small. But you may like them.”

More books - but she didn't dislike reading. While some of the books here have questionable means. Lyn liked to learn. She liked that the books here didn't censor anything. She liked that here she could obtain knowledge from books without knowing that the books were tampered with. But even then Lyn understood that some of the books in Junlan church are outdated. This might be the reason why her family sent her here of all places.

Lyn reached out for his bag, and she immediately dropped. ”Gahh! Why is it so heavy?” Lyn didn't notice how huge the rucksack was on that day. But now that she saw it up close, it is fairly large.

Arthur laughed, ”Don't try to bring it all over. You'll break your arms. Just take a few books out.”

Lyn nodded and slowly unbuttoned the bag. She pulled out the nearest book, a large worn-out brown book.

”Ah, that's a good one.”

”It is?” Lyn was staring at the large book, half curious and half wondering.

”It's about magic,” Arthur trailed off. ”Are you here to get your magic determined, or are you a commoner?”

Lyn hesitated. If she tells him that yes she is here to learn magic, then he would learn that she is a noble. No doubt that when he recovers, he will try to learn about her. Or he may accidentally tell somebody about her. It's too risky if he says anything, it would be bad for her.

”I'm a commoner,” Lyn replied. It felt strange saying those words. Even though she's a hidden Princess. A Princess in name only, it still felt peculiar of her to call herself a commoner.

'A commoner with hands that show no signs of labor?' Arthur looked amused at the girl who was busy studying the book with great focus. What a foolish child. He doesn't know which noble house she belongs to, but it seems like she's gone through a lot. Despite his hazard vision then, when he first met this child, he saw it. A proud and noble look in her eyes. Such strength and intensity.

He reached over and wrapped a blanket around her. ”You'll catch a cold. It's chilly in this room.”

”Thank you very much, mister.”
