Chapter 272 - One day (2/2)
”Do not pick a fight with me. They are just stars.” Allen stated. Irritation filled her eyes then, he doesn't get it at all, does he? He slides up next to her, ”But, well, I suppose. I do get the feeling that a long time ago they shone much brighter.”
A long time ago, huh? Didn't that person say it, the story about their family? So that's the reason why, why his gaze is so cold despite him being such a gentle and kind person. ”Didn't you say to sing, you have to feel the beauty of the world? Why is that condition necessary?”
”It is necessary to make the song. The environment, my interactions with people. I take it all inside me. If this fails, I will not be able to sing. That's why people's feelings must be connected.” Lyn explained. That's why even if it's painful, even if it hurts so much to the point that she cannot breathe. She cannot fall into despair, no matter how corrupted the world becomes - there will always be beauty in a place that may not be seen by the human eye. Yet without a doubt, it is there.
Her thoughts broke when she hears shuffling and found that Allen had wrapped his cloak around her. ”Allen?”
”The air is chilly out here, be careful.”
”Yes, thank you, it's warm.” It smells like him too. A different scent than Kazuya, a different sort of warmness and yet it is so very comforting to her.
Feeling his fingers brush across the nape of her neck, she turned to meet his gaze,” Allen?”
”Let me touch you, even if it's just something like this. I know you belong to another, so I will not do anything inappropriate. But let me do this much at least.”
Lyn grabbed hold of his hand and placed it on her face as she leaned on it. ”Very well. Your warm Allen, it's different than Kazuya's, but I really like it.” she trails off and closes her eyes. ”Say, Allen, I'm selfish after all, aren't I? I should let you and the others go already. I should properly reject them and move forward with Kazuya.”
”You cannot; you are still afraid.”
”Mm, that's true. But, I can't keep this up forever, can I? You know it already Allen, how much I love Kazuya. How dear he has become to me. It's different than when I was with Zenith, these feelings keep on growing even stronger, and I cannot seem to let them go.”
Allen nodded, ”I'm aware. My dear, have you not told anybody else yet?”
”I told Zenith. But, at the same time, it felt like I was deliberately missing some details out,” she mumbled. No that's exactly what was going on. Even when she confines in somebody, she always ends up leaving something out.
”I see, Lyn, I have always wondered about it why a girl such as yourself have to deal with such a heavy burden on her shoulders. Why your small and frail shoulders have to carry the burden and the fate of the world, you may have grown longer legs; your body may be that of an a.d.u.l.t now. However, in my eyes, you are yet still a child. A child who is still wandering and lost, someone who although has found their answer cannot accept it. My dear, you have to face it properly. Only then can you and Kazuya be happy.”
Lyn stepped away from him and walked a few steps forward. She knew he was still waiting for a reply behind her, but Lyn did not know what to say. No, she can't say anything.
