Chapter 186 - Something she has to do (1/2)
Waking up the next day after what happened was beyond awkward for her. But, Lyn knew that avoiding Rhys would do her no good. Surprisingly enough, he has done nothing to tease her for the past three hours since she woke up. Lyn's gaze flickered towards the man, 'unusual,' Lyn thought to herself. Why is Rhys acting so odd today? Usually, he would have made a teasing remark or tried something on her. But today he hasn't. A deep sigh escaped her lips; what is she doing? Isn't it a good thing he isn't doing anything?
”You don't mind?” Rhys suddenly said, breaking the silence.
Lyn blinks in confusion at his words. But doesn't bother questioning her as they continued upwards the mountain path. Since there is something, she has to do.
It happened far too quickly for her to react, despite her fast senses. Although she was prepared for the blood l.u.s.t, she didn't expect them to be all wiped out before she could do anything. There has always been someone far faster than her. Someone who can control it, sound. Maroon colored hair, someone who always wore such a stupid-looking expression; and yet this is the person where everything began.
”Ah that was refreshing, now let's see what sort of beauties I saved to... ” He must have just charged in without thinking, so very reckless. The brunette immediately wrapped her arms around him from behind.
”Kazuya, I...I missed you,” Lyn cried. She just saw him yesterday, and yet.. they parted way too quickly.
”I see, I was reckless. I wasn't planning on meeting you for a while longer. But,” Kazuya turned her around to stroke her cheek with his tender hands, ” Now that we've met again, I'd like to see you smile though I've always loved your tear-stained face. ”
It was hardly what she would call a romantic or even powerful meeting. Indeed you could hardly compare it to the other times. But like before, she can feel it; his warmth.
....
Lyn buried her face in Kazuya's neck as she breathed in her boyfriend's unique scent. Lyn gently ran her fingers through his maroon-colored locks. She wasn't exactly sure what she was doing, but she's glad that Kazuya was allowing her.
She just saw him the other day, but as expected it wasn't enough for her. Lyn didn't even have time to tell Kazuya how angry she was at him. Yes, she was angry, even though they decided to be together, he's always disappearing. Yes, he has his circ.u.mstances. He has his demons and conflicts.
It was easy for her to notice things about him in contrast to others. The same went for him; they understood each other even without words their relationship was that deep. Whenever they interacted, it felt like they were the only ones in the world.
Lyn buried her nose into the side of Kazuya's neck a little more. After a few minutes of silence, Kazuya finally says, ”Have you calmed down now?”
”Yes,” Lyn says softly, torn between holding onto her Kazuya tighter and letting him go. She doesn't want to risk letting him go only for him to disappear right before her very eyes once more. But she has to sooner or later let him go.
”What are you doing, Rhys?”
”Hmm? Just writing this section in the report to 'unexpected meeting under the stars.' ”
”There are no stars out during the day! ” she exclaimed.
Geez, she's somewhat embarrassed though. Holding onto Kazuya so tightly like that. Lyn loosened her grip, knowing that he won't be leaving.
”I thought it was strange. I felt your presence in the mountains... I thought you two would take the other path, but you came this way?”
Lyn nodded, ”Ah-huh, I got a message from Allen.”
”You too?”
Eh? Lyn looked at Kazuya puzzled.
”Yeah. Something of the sort, he told me to deal with the problems in this area. But he probably only said that, so I could get to my own devices.”
”Could it be Kazuya you're here for the Zana crystal?”
”Lyn you also? Of course, ” Kazuya reached over and patted her hair, ” It was written in my love letter, so I expected it.”
The love letter Kazuya was referring to was a letter he snuck in her belongings, before the journey. She ended up taking it along with her and only just read it recently.
”Now that I have seen it, isn't it embarrassing?”
