Chapter 179 - Strange (1/2)

Wait a minute, the King's knights? They came here directly to fetch her? Lyn frowned slightly, 'Something is wrong after all,' Lyn thought. At first, she thought it was a mere coincidence that things here were too quiet. After all, it is the middle of the night. But generally most castles operate twenty-four seven, there are those who work the night shift for a reason.

This castle is very strange. For the King to personally send his knights instead of getting normal personnel. Maybe it's because she is a special case? That message expressed clear interest in her mark. Allen was very wary at first, and yet he ended up agreeing for them to come here.

”Ah,” her eyes widened when she saw who it was, ”Rhys,” Lyn called out.

He reached over and pinched her cheeks, ”What on earth were you thinking going here alone? Why don't you listen to your fiance for once.”

Lyn recalled what Allen said about an escort, so he meant Rhys. The girl didn't want to bother anybody so late, that's why she simply went by herself. But if she knew the person would be Rhys, then she would have changed her mind.

”Why do you look so pale?” Rhys asked, concerned, ”And your cold too.”

”It's only because of the weather,” the changes in the temperature aside. Lyn felt something ominous since she got closer to this place.

”Be careful.”

”Thank you…”

Rhys brushed his hands across her cheek, and Lyn turned shy, ”Rhys?”

”Do you guys have a spare room?”

”There's one down the hall.”

...….

The interior and feel of the spare room were exactly the same as the halls. The coldness aside, the furniture seemed bland and hard. Rhys must have realized since he removed his cloak and placed it on the bed. ”Lay down here, if the pillows are too hard, just use your--,” Rhys paused, ”No, use my arm.”

”Rhys, um,” Lyn knew there was no use beating around the bush about it. Since it's him, he surely noticed it already.

Her thoughts broke off when Rhys brushed his hand on her neck, ”Who did this?”

Ah, the mark...

Lyn reached over and hugged him, ”It's okay; they did nothing.”

”Like I can just…”

”Rhys. I'll handle it,” she trailed off, ”Really, it'll be okay.”

A deep sigh escaped Rhys lips, and he nodded. Lyn immediately let go of him.

”Rhys?”

”You, me, a bed and a room. A nice combination, I must say.”

”Rh--Rhys, don't…” Just now, that scary thing happened. It took all her willpower to calm down.

To her surprise, though Rhys simply covered her up with the blanket, ”That stupid King can wait for you till morning.”

”Ah? But…”

”Get some rest. I'll stay here and guard you, so don't worry about a thing.”

”Rhys, were you lonely?”

”Are you messing around?”

”I'm sorry I haven't come to see you,” Lyn murmured, ”But, I just wanted some space for a bit.”

”You're angry?”

”A little,” she trailed off when she made eye contact with him, ”Okay, so a lot.”

Rhys stood up and pulled her into his arms, ”Lyn, I've missed you. You should have come to see me.”

Ah, he's trembling.. Did he really want to see her that much? It's hard to believe.

”Can I kiss you? I'm going to kiss you, Lyn.”

The girl looked down at him, confused and unsure of what to say. ”You're blushing, you know.”

His smile widened, and the glow in his eyes intensified.

”I-I don't understand,” Lyn murmured. Before she could stop him, Rhys had grabbed her wrist, ”Rhys, don't do anything.”
