Chapter 37 - Princess Lyn P9 (2/2)
It didn't take long to realize that Kazuya was different than all the others.
Kazuya is different. He doesn't try to suck up to her like all the others who learn of her identity. She can act like herself with no restraints, no walls. He listened to everything she says attentively, giving her advice and even giving her compliments.
Although they had a rough start, she realizes that he is her first friend in a long time.
However, there is a balance of arguments alongside the good ones. Whether it's her storming off or Kazuya saying things she doesn't understand. But even when they fight, they find a way to stay with each other.
Lyn always feigned ignorance and tells him she doesn't understand. She acts clueless but deep down? Lyn is not like that at all. What Kazuya thinks about her, doesn't she already understand deep down? Whenever he looked at her eyes, or whenever she lies to him, and he still smiles. Whenever he held her in his arms, she can tell. But this feeling is foreign to her; it's not something she is used to.
And it scared her.
”Lyn, sorry I took so long.” Kazuya returned with a new plate.
Her thoughts broke off upon seeing him, black hair and those chocolate brown colored eyes. Her eyes sparkled when she saw what was on the plate several meat buns. Lyn happily took one and ate.
Kazuya chuckles, ” Don't eat too quickly.”
But his warning came too late, Lyn choked. Kazuya passed her some water and brought it to her lips, ”Drink.”
”Ahem.”
Lyn turned to her father, ”Yes?”
”My dear daughter, quite some time has passed since we last met and you're not even talking to me?”
It's not like she intended that, but Allen keeps looking over at her and the two. Besides, it would be awkward if Kazuya and Allen sat together. So she sat beside Kazuya. Maybe it's weird after all.
Kazuya reached over and ruffled her hair, ”Now King Daichi, me and Lyn came here together. It's only natural we sit together; likewise, you two came together.”
”Mmm,” her father trailed off, ”Clever lad aren't you? You even have your guard up.”
”Like it's possible for me to subdue you.”
Lyn looked at them puzzled, what are they talking about now?
Kazuya, however, didn't answer her and knew better than to ask her father. While the two of them got along in contrast to her other family members, it still felt slightly awkward for her. Her thoughts broke off when she glimpsed someone familiar from the corner of her eyes.
Lyn felt all color drain from her face. Impossible. Impossible. Why is this man here? She is definitely seeing things. But there's no mistaking him, that dark hair, those eyes.
'If you tell anyone, I'll kill you.'
She shudders at the memory.
Two years ago, only two years passed since then. But Lyn has not forgotten that terrible day. Why would she?
