Chapter 269 - 269: I’m Here To Distract You (1/2)

A pair of dangerous, gleaming eyes peered below from a window aloft the grand building, following the red car drive into a distance with mild interest.

There wasn't much left for Lillie to do. Occasionally, she would assist Elliot with some important doc.u.ments. But most of the time, she would lounge around or stand in front of her office's large window to distract herself from boredom.

Scaring the daylight out of her employees by giving them a rare shot of surprise visit, had been her favorite amus.e.m.e.nt.

Behind her, she could hear Elliot instructing his temporary assistant, Andrea Houston, and assigning her with tasks.

Every time Andrea was called in the CEO's office by Elliot, a boost of excitement always followed because she'll have the chance to see her goddess again.

It's tough, multitasking between sneaking a glance at Lillie—who was now on the sofa with her phone—and listening to Elliot's instructions.

”No, no! You mustn't get distracted, Drea!” She mentally scolded herself profusely, all while keeping her gaze at the ash-blonde hair woman like an owl.

”Miss Houston? Did you catch everything I said?” Elliot's deep voice brought her out of her trance.

”Yes, sir.” Andrea was proud and thankful of her talent of remembering everything she hears even when she's not giving it her full attention.

When she repeated everything, exactly how he said it, Elliot was highly impressed. He definitely noticed Andrea's eyes straying elsewhere, and thought she wasn't listening.

”Sir, these are the last ones you needed to look after.” Secretary Yu heard her boss let out a frustrated groan when another pile of doc.u.ments was added on his desk.

Secretary Yu worriedly look at the tired man. His eyes had been glaring between his laptop and paperworks the whole day without proper rest.

Thankfully, unlike last time, he ate his lunch—might've been because his wife prepared it for him this time.

After an hour, Secretary Yu came back to Ethan's office to inform him that the boardroom was ready and that everyone was waiting for him.

Since the CEO will be taking a leave for a few days, the board of directors were called to discuss who will take his place during his absence.

Entering the spacious room that was mostly occupied by middle aged individuals, Ethan, the youngest among them, sat at the head of the table.

When the opening remark was delivered, the meeting began with the boards' suggestion for candidates.

Ethan's back relaxed itself on the swiveled chair as he half-heartedly listened to the argument left and right.

Feeling his phone vibrated from his b.r.e.a.s.t pocket, Ethan pick it up.

[Hey, I'm here to distract you.]

An amused smile plastered on his face. His wife was really such a tease. She knew that he's in the middle of a meeting.

The board was too engrossed in arguing that they didn't notice their CEO smiling and typing on phone. Secretary Yu, who was sitting to his right, saw his expression and restrain herself from giggling.

He really can't help himself when it comes to Lillie Bai.

Secretary Yu was no longer surprised at seeing her boss smiling and chuckling at his phone. This scenario has been happening quite frequently.

[I miss you.] Ethan texted back. [The meeting is too boring, and the board are like a bunch of bees buzzing in my ears.]

[Man up and endure it.]

[Meanie...] Ethan added a teary eyes emoji.

Luckily, Secretary Yu wasn't standing behind him. She would've burst out laughing if she saw how childish her boss was acting.

[What are you doing right now?]

[I'm just watching over Elliot and his new assistant.]

Fully aware of the reason why she's watching over him, Ethan still can't help but chug a whole jar of vinegar.

[Assistant?]
