13 Nest and Re-Happenings (1/2)

I first had Kess summon a couple dozen spiderlings and I tell her to summon some more whenever she can. I have the spiderlings dig out the hole and make it into a room of about 10 meters by 10 meters by 5 meters(high) and layer it in web. This should be the basic room composition. To make it a bit more interesting I create a couple of pools of poison as well. It took about 2 hours to make it.

To get arid of the rock debris I have a couple of the spiderlings push it out of a small hole/tunnel in the cliff face. We can plug it up later with really thick layers of metal webbing. Kess has also been eating a large portion of it.... Maybe it's normal for metal creatures to eat stone?

Anyways from this first room, I have tunnels built that slant downwards and further in land from the cliff face. I am worried about flooding so I have a couple of the spiderlings dig little drainage shafts with web grates.

After this it just becomes an automated process of Kess summoning more and more spiders as they dig out and, layer rooms and tunnels with web. I kept an eye on things adding poison pools here and there. It's rather boring work but Kess and Set's antics bring sone amusement.

Like that a week went by. The nest is now quite expansive reaching the entire height of the cliff (40 meters) and goes in a little over a hundred meters. The only thing left is going to be the central room of the nest which is going to be twice the size of standard rooms.

As we finish up I feel the archne queen's crystal start pulsing in my pocket and a weird feeling washes over me. Kess and Set start freaking out and the entire place starts shaking. A small black obelisk rises from the webbed floor and the shaking stops. I see a black pulsing slot which matches the arachne queen's crystal

I.... What do I do..... This thing is suspicious as hell. I think I'm supposed to insert this crystal in the hole in the obelisk but..... This feels like I'm being led on..... It's also emitting this aura of dominance.... Maybe this is a way to swear allegiance to some god or something?

I'd rather not piss off a god but, I have no idea of the repercussions of obeying it. Even that is only speculation. I don't like choices that you know nothing about. Especially big ones like this that may have many unforeseen consequences....

I take out the crystal and examine it further. A small, beautiful, white gem. It has countless sides and is pulsing a white light. As I inspect it my heart starts pulsing and matches the crystal's. Just like before with the grey spider the roots lurch on the crystal and drags it in.
