11 Forest of Anger (1/2)

Oddly enough she didn't stop munching after I told her to stop. She was eating through it at a ridiculous speed and a tree that was a half a meter thick was felled just like that. Golden mist?

Was that not a tree? A treant is the only species of monster that I can think of but, this tree didn't have a face. Wait something weird is going on..... I start paying attention to my surroundings. The height of this cave reaches dozens of kilometers high and it even has some sort of pseudo sky. There are clouds and plenty of lighting. If I hadn't read that diary I might have thought that this may be the surface.

Behind my back is the blue-gray stone making a wide wall that slowly slopes upwards. This cavern may be in the shape of a dome. Then there is what is to my sides and in front.

A forest full of life. Trees, berry bushes, flowers, small streams, insects, and critters. All untainted by mankind. However in that beautiful scene, was something genuinely disturbing. Eyes. I thought Kess had creepy eyes but this is much worse. All the tree's had redish bloodshot eyes and were staring at me.

I was right they are treants. However they do not look happy. As I start edging back towards the cave, I realize that the they are just staring. Not moving. Can they not attack? Maybe they can't move? Well, this is an oppurtunity then! Either that or a trap but, what the case, I can get benefits and flee in the worse case. 'Kess take your spiderlings and start taking down treants'. 'Set you're with me”.

Taking my spider limb spear from earlier I start jabbing a treant in its eye and Set cuts it clean in half with a flick of ink. Wah?!?! That was way more lethal than I thought it was!!! I wonder why it didn't do much to the broken egg earlier? Anyways, time for a hunt.

It was by the time that the fourth tree fell that something changed. The treants have developed full facial features which are staring even more intensely. They also started making weird noises. Whenever they move their mouths a weird noise similar to bending wood is made. I have a bad feeling. Lets stop killing.
