Chapter 41 - Has He Eaten Today? (1/2)
Yu Huiyin had once again reached her own conclusions. She was sure that Xie Jingyu was a normal law-abiding tycoon, and she was of the impression that no gang would send their higher-ups to the task of watching a small girl.
Unfortunately, Xie Jingyu was not an average person. He had indeed sent one of the higher-ranked experts to protect her.
He had personally picked Hui Liqiang because he was the best fighter amongst his men. Only by using him to protect Yu Huiyin would he feel safe.
Xie Jingyu, who was still at work, was feeling fidgety all day. Although he knew that he had managed to remove the rumors about him online, he was worried that she might have already seen something.
Realizing that he would not manage to get any more work done this evening, Xie Jingyu packed up his papers before he went out of the building and went to his car.
He ordered Assistant Song to drive him home; his body was restless, and his mind was all over the place as he was thinking up numerous scenarios that he might encounter when he returned home.
But while things usually followed as Xie Jingyu had expected, Yu Huiyin was someone who was different.
What greeted Xie Jingyu as he entered the sitting room was Yu Huiyin lying on her stomach on the couch, crunching on some ch.i.p.s, and watching the news.
Hearing the steps, she looked up, and when her eyes landed on Xie Jingyu, they sparkled.
”I didn't know you were so famous!” She exclaimed as she looked at him with worshipping eyes.
”You are so rich and so amazing at controlling a business! If I have problems later on, I will definitely ask you to help me out!”
Xie Jingyu was stunned, his eyes widening slightly in surprise. So had she seen the rumors or not?
”I met this middle-aged uncle I often talked with back where I lived before, and he knew Hui Liqiang. This might be a weird question, but do you take in gang members who want to leave the gang life?”
Xie Jingyu's lips twitched. So she had convinced herself that Hui Liqiang had left the gang life and was a law-abiding citizen now? She was usually so bright and intelligent, why was it that every time it had something to do with him, she became quite stupid?
”That's right,” he said, humoring her, ”I accept old gang members as my bodyguards, but they have to show some loyalty. Why are you asking?”
”I know a lot of people who were never successful in the gangs, but had to resort to illegal means to survive. Now they have a criminal record and can't find a proper job anywhere.”
