Chapter 4 - Surgery (1/2)
The ambulance arrived fast. The paramedics had already been briefed of the fact that it was a gunshot wound, and they quickly staunched the blood flow before they wheeled her into the ambulance.
The young man looked at the woman and strode into the ambulance with her. He knew that this woman had gotten hurt because of him, and for the first time in his life, did he feel some guilt.
Yu Huiyin was looking into the ceiling of the ambulance, her eyes were turning heavy, and her body was aching. An intense burst of pain was on her shoulder with every bump on the road, and every slight movement of herself.
The blood flow had been stopped, but she was still uncomfortable, she was starting to feel nauseous.
She closed her eyes slightly, in an attempt to curb the bad feelings, but she could not fall asleep because of the pain.
They arrived at the First Hospital in the capital. This was the most renowned hospital, but also the most expensive one.
Even so, she was sedated, and the doctors anesthetized her, making her fall into a deep slumber, while they went to perform surgery on her. It was necessary to get the bullet out of her body as soon as possible, and then they had to check for how severe the damage was and clean the wounds.
All the doctors were immensely serious when working; they knew that the one who had brought her there was Xie Jingyu, and since he had brought her personally, this was a serious matter.
While she was in surgery, the man that they all feared went to make the payment. He paid for her surgery alongside all follow-up fees and even reserved a VIP room for her.
He felt worried. Usually, he would never have walked by the side of a woman as he did today, but somehow he had felt comfortable with her by his side, so he had left her there.
He would never have imagined that she would take a bullet for a total stranger, and he could not help but fear that she would end up with a shattered shoulder blade or something else so horribly that she would not recover.
”I guess I'll just have to be responsible for her,” he muttered to himself, and then he suddenly thought of a solution. This woman could save him for many problems if she were willing to work with him.
He picked up his phone and dialed his assistant. ”I need all the information you can get me on a woman named Yu Huiyin. I have her ID card here, including her ID number, so be swift.”
He did not wait for the other end to reply and swiftly sent a picture of the ID to his assistant, waiting impatiently for the reply, while also pacing up and down the waiting room while glancing at the lamp from time to time which proved that she was still in surgery.
