”I can tell all of you who is the next successor now, however, I was not the one who calls everyone here. So, I'm going to wait until that certain someone finishes the purpose of this meeting.” The moment everyone heard what Marcus just said, everyone is starting to whisper to each other.
”Someone has the audacity to use your seal just to have this meeting? Such an unforgivable act deserves punishment, Cousin!” Out of all Marcus' relatives, his cousin Martha is the one he trusts the most.
She's the only one who has no interest in wanting to have the family fortune for her own good. Back then, when they were still at their young age, she's the type of person who likes to make a name of her own, and now, she did. She is one of the strong-willed women he has known in his entire life.
Another fact about Martha is that even though she is not carrying the Coleman name anymore, she is still willing to do anything just to make sure that its name is not stained.
Since his grandchildren will be the next future of the Colemans, he must tell them that the best ally they could have on their side is Martha Cole. 'I should tell that to the twins after this meeting.'
Both Anna and Aaron were quite surprised to hear such a stern way of talking from Martha. She looks like a fragile old lady, but she's almost the same as their grandfather, stern and strict. The twins are already guessing that they are going to have a hard time if they ever make her angry.
”I think it's better for us to keep our distance from her, we might make her get angry at us if we didn't keep our distance.” Aaron quietly whispered to his twin. Although Aaron wants to keep a good connection with the nongreedy people in their family, Aaron is considering not to get too close to Martha Cole. He does not have the courage to face a woman like her.
”I think it's too late for that, brother. She is already angry that we used grandfather's seal for this meeting.” From what she remembers from her past life, Martha Cole is the type of person who likes to stick to the traditional way and is very strict if the tradition is not upheld by everyone.
”You are right, cousin Martha, however, despite using my seal just to have everyone come here, I think that it is okay as long as the reason for this meeting is reasonable.” Marcus is already guessing who is the culprit for using his seal, however, he doesn't want to voice out his words without concrete evidence.
”Since everyone is here, can that culprit start explaining to us now? Not all of us have a free schedule like some people here.” Marietta who has been irritated at how kind Marcus is treating Martha. Marcus' attitude towards her husband is completely different from the way he treats Martha.
It's obvious to everyone that Marcus favors Martha more, and that fact really irritates her.
”Marietta, I understand that some people in this room have busy schedules, however, I do believe that you, on the other hand, doesn't have any busy schedules. From what I heard, you are always mingling with your friends just like always.” Martha who could not stand Marietta's presence just can't help but point out that Marietta never once contributed anything to the Coleman name.
All she does is enjoying spending money and having a party with her friends. If Marcus' father were still alive, he will be infuriated that Rent Coleman marry such a lazy woman who only wants money. Every Coleman generation, including its branch family, are always reminded that the partner they should marry is a hardworking one. Whether they contributed small or big, it didn't matter as long the partner contributes for the sake of their name.
However, Rent who is spoiled rotten since birth did not think of any of the advice his parents said, he went and married Marietta who only wants money from him.
”Are we back on this topic again, Martha? I did contribute. In fact, I contributed a lot to this family, I gave birth to three sons, isn't that enough.” For Marietta, giving birth to three sons is quite an achievement for her because for some reason, each Coleman member can only give one or two sons and the rest is daughters.
With that fact alone, she thinks that she has contributed enough.
Hearing Marietta say that the women in the room snickered at her, even Mary finds it very funny.
”I'm sorry, but are you really that proud to give birth to three sons who only knows how to play around with women, gambling, and taking bad drugs? And to top it off, they don't even know how business works. It's such an embarrassment knowing that every member of the family does know how business works except for yours, obviously.”
As Martha is a Coleman by blood and heart, she is obviously furious that Rent's sons are doing such things using the Coleman name. She actually feels bad for her cousin Marcus for doing all sorts of things just to clean up the mess they made.
