Jane was too hesitant to speak, but she felt that she could not get out of the house. She lowered her head again and said, ”Sir, please send the Buddha to the west.”

”Buddha? Then, have you ever heard that it is easier to send a god to his death? ” Gu Chen sneered, a tinge of arrogance on his face.

Jane pursed her lips and unconsciously pressed down on the back of her injured hand, causing her to hiss in pain. Her eyes focused on Gu Chen and she slowly stood up.

Gu Chen's eyes darkened. Did this woman have a plot? She was biting his tongue and pressing down on his wounds, as though she could endure any kind of pain. He furrowed his brows as he thought of this, unconsciously feeling displeased.

Jane had already made up her mind that this was the only way to get out. It would be best if she got a taxi the moment she stepped out of the door. However, before she could even take a step, Gu Chen pulled her back onto the sofa and she was wrapped up in his embrace.

”What are you doing? Let go of me!”

Jane quickly pushed Gu Chen's arm away, trying to distance herself from him.

”Don't move!” Gu Chen furrowed his brows, as if a domineering storm was brewing around his body. At that moment, Jane was restrained by his sense of propriety and remained motionless. However, her eyes remained vigilant, staring at Gu Chen's movements.

Gu Chen noticed the woman's unease and pretended calmness, slightly relaxing his grip on her. The corner of his lips curled up, as he felt that something was strange. It was as if his heart had become more soft and soft that night. Looking at this gentle and obedient kitten was filled with emotions that far exceeded his usual strict thinking; it was as if she was more attractive than he had imagined.

When Jane felt her strength loosen, she immediately took a step forward. She purposefully used her arm to slightly extend the force outwards. Gu Chen intentionally kept his face cold as he approached her, saying word by word, ”Are you saying that you don't want me to touch you?”

”No, no, no …” Jane could feel his breath on her face, and it was so hot that she couldn't seem to stop. She stuttered and curled up behind the sofa.

”Sit down.” The smell of the man in front of her dissipated, and before she could react, a cool sensation came from her hand. Jane raised her head and saw that the man had taken out a medicine box from somewhere, and was carefully wiping the medicinal wine on the back of her swollen and red hand with a cotton stick.

Jane's hand shrank and was immediately grabbed by the man. He looked at her seriously with a frown: ”Pain? Just bear with it. ”

Jane let him carefully put on the medicine for the first time and then after seeing that she had packed the medicine, she said, ”You can go back to your room to rest. I'll have my secretary bring the clothes over later.”

Jane nodded, stood up and whispered, ”Thank you.”

Gu Chen flipped through the documents as if he had not heard anything. Jane entered the room, blushing with embarrassment.

After sitting there for a while, he was still unable to fall asleep. He checked his phone and found that there were more than a dozen missed calls. He immediately replied to his mother's call.

”Little Chu, why aren't you answering the phone? Mom's worried to death.”

It was his mother's choked voice on the other end of the phone, and Jane couldn't help but start to cry as soon as she heard it.
