Chapter 40 - 40. A bug and a fly... (1/2)

Just when she came out of the kitchen with some refreshments, she noticed the tense air in the living room.

She instinctively knew her XuanXuan was sulking, well, for the rest of the world it may be his fury at display but to her, it was just him 'sulking'.

She should have coaxed him outright but the TPO didn't actually allow her, so, she decided to observe for a moment.

She first approved of the young nurse's diligence, well, it's not every day you see someone who is able to continue with their facade and keep from shrinking their existence when in presence of such a XuanXuan, she noted in her mind to hire him permanently after he completes his training under the old Doc.

The old Doc, as usual, was an epitome of serenity, well, he at least put forth a vast amount of his effort to keep it as so.

Then she took notice of the young apprentice, who according to the old Doc, was his favourite cowering away from Qin ZiXuan's glare, she almost scoffed, 'Favourite, is it? The old man must have gone senile'.

She was usually not someone who spoke this badly about another person and doing so actually showed how much she believed in the old man's expertise and that she didn't treat him like a stranger plus they were pretty close, considering that in the years she stayed abroad, it was through him that she got notified of XuanXuan's health and had left him under his care because of her strong belief in him; it's just that she didn't like his choice for 'favourite'.

The fact that, as a doctor, that apprentice didn't look straight in the eyes of his patient, yes, he was not the one diagnosing XuanXuan at the moment but still it's not professional so, he easily got in her bad books because of this cowardice behaviour plus he was older than them, how can he get intimidated by a younger man ba!

Of course, she easily forgot all the times when the said 'younger' man and even she herself, took down men double their age both in business and in fights and made had them in knees to ask for forgiveness out of deep fear, well, it was in line to her selective memory. 'What XuanXuan did was correct and everyone else was in the wrong.'

She will have to talk with the old man if he was deciding on having him take over his position after he decided to retire, she won't approve of it.

That is how, without his knowing, Qin ZiXuan was able to splatter a bug only by a simple display of his 'anger'.

Finally, Qin Meilin, took notice of the other girl in the room as her face had an added layer of frost.

Of course, she had noticed the annoying fly who kept peeking at Qin ZiXuan since the entered but just because she was busy guiding XuanXuan into the room and then take some important calls, she had ignored her and deep down a voice kept telling her that,

'Who are you to interfere in his relationship matters? You don't have the right now, nor will you ever have it. It has become 'someone' else's responsibility.'

But watching her change her bashful behaviour into that of a timid creature in a matter of seconds, she got her reason to squash her, 'she didn't deserve a glance much less a position by him, she wasn't eligible.'

She noticed that the silence has gone for far too long and hence, she decided to break it.

She contemplated a bit but in the end chose to call him, ”XuanXuan”.

She didn't want him to sulk more than he already was, though she was not sure of his mood, she just thought of it as him being weirded out by doctors who primarily belonged to hospitals, a taboo for him.

Qin ZiXuan was taken out of his world by this flat voice, it was his Meilin.

He slightly looked up from his position only to meet her bright eyes which only had him in them, the ice inside him melted to puddle, he came back to his senses as his thin lips slightly, just slightly curved upwards, it was very hard to tell, but our Meilin knew that she brought him back.
