Chapter 26 - 26. Live Well... (1/2)

After they were done with their breakfast, they settled on the huge sofa to do their respective works.

Qin Meilin from the start had her laptop on top of her legs, as she typed some proposals and reports for the upcoming board meeting.

She was very engrossed until she noticed the slight shift beside her.

Just as she was thinking of taking a look at him, she felt a weight on her shoulder but this time she didn't flinch as she was thinking about something, as she took a side glance at the perfect face of the supposed 'weight'.

Qin ZiXuan had a bad habit, which was staying up during the weekends.

He seemed to have procured this habit in the time she wasn't by his side but of course, she didn't like it and had nagged her way through his mind to change it.

These last few weeks, he was acting like a model student and she had let her guard down, ' So angry!', she mutely grounded her teeth of anger but one look at his sleeping face and it all went like 'poof'.

She sighed lightly and with very slight movements put her laptop over the low-table and shifted his head from her shoulder to her laps.

She couldn't let him hurt his neck due to his bad sleeping posture, now could she?

After the shift, he unconsciously pulled his legs up onto the sofa which, as said earlier, was really big for 'special' circumstances like this.

Even though it was cold outside, due to the warm sunlight enveloping the room, it was warm inside. She was glad that she didn't need to get up to bring a blanket.

She softly rubbed her thumb over the dark circles which, if not looked at carefully, would go unnoticed.

Something ticked off inside her.....

Now she was feeling a bit frustrated that she didn't notice anything strange or more like she was so engrossed in her own little world, to take a note of it; her eyes turned a bit colder at this realisation.

He was already up before she came here, the probability of such things on normal weekdays was close to 0 so, chances of him staying up all night was very high.

He asked for something light,... as he had not slept, his weak stomach would act up if he ate something greasy and there was no way she wouldn't notice his discomfort.

He was also sure that she would give him warm milk, which in turn, would keep him awake.

Meilin's brain like always was efficient and she took note of everything that happened till now which could've led to her finding of last night, clearly, there were signs but she hadn't even noticed it.

When he had snuggled closer, his temperature was a little bit above his normal temperature, of course, it was the thyroxine working and he seemed tired too but she actually didn't notice and was cooped up in her own fantasy world.

Her eyes turned into black pools of ink as a cold glint passed through them.

'Just how desperate are you, Qin Meilin?', she would've hit herself hard if not for waking him up but her eyes turned even colder and she builds another wall...

..................

She hummed a lullaby for him when she noticed him twitching and softly patted him on his head coaxing him to sleep, a small smile blossomed on his face but her eyes were already dead.

.....................

Qin ZiXuan was reading the business newspaper she had bought.

He had then decided on going through some important papers for upcoming meetings and appointments until she had to go and prepare lunch, everything went like usual or so, he would've liked it to be.
