Xi Jian sat next to Ling Yue. His gaze fell on his wife's flat stomach. After confirming the truth, his feelings were mixed.

He wanted to have children with Ling Yue, but did not expect it to be this fast. After all this trouble happened, he wanna have a little bit more lovey-dovey time. What if Ling Yue's attention on him was less than normal? Could he still love his child?

”What' wrong?” Ling Yue tilted her head and looked at him.

”I have no idea.” Xi Jian answered softly. ”I'm happy. But I'm worried too.” Xi Jian hid his face behind his palms.

Ling Yue stared at him. ”Tell me what you think...”

Xi Jian tilted his head towards Ling Yue. ”Maybe I'm not ready to be a father?”

When he finished saying that, he saw the shock on Ling Yue's face.

She was silent for a moment. After a minutes, Ling Yue spoke to him slowly. ”Should we postpone it first?”

”WHAT? NO! That's not what I meant!” Xi Jian held her hands, nervously. ”I mean, later, if our child born, when she or he born, I'm still reluctant to share your attention with them, I mean that, uhm,...ahhhh!” Xi Jian smiling awkwardly. ”No. Forget what I said! ”You want to talk about it?” although she knew what was happening, Ling Yue wanted to hear it directly from him.

Xi Jian leaned back with Ling Yue still in his arms. The quiet office atmosphere makes him relaxed. Xi Jian glanced at the office door. He asked Gan Ji and Bai Xu to stand on guard for now.

Xi Jian sighed. ”I once asked you remember? 'If one day I lost King Empire, do you still want to be with me?'”

Ling Yue muttered 'yes', she remembered it.

”I thought I would let it go. But when I imagine you living hard with me is unacceptable. And now there is one more life that depends on me, I think what I've done so far is worth it.” Xi Jian looked at Ling Yue who listened without interrupting.

”When Xi Zuan replaced me temporarily, it wasn't long before he was attacked too. There was a rumour about the Xi family's afloat that we won't last long. They start speculating on their own and trying to merger King Empire with other companies.”

”Why?” Ling Yue asked confused. How can they spread rumors like that? ”Do you know who they are?”

Xi Jian now knew that Guo Zheng was behind this all. That's why he couldn't detect their work before.
