Chapter 234 - Ok...What? (1/2)

Laz felt like the world was no longer what he knew. Gods were going to be coming after him for a power that he possessed and yet knew almost nothing about? And the changing of the people on the planet was all related to that large tree, like people with the 'blood infections' and those bastards who seemed to gain elemental powers but at the same time became raging assholes?

Laz had always been kind of sturdy, but he almost felt the need to sit down and try to process this.

:Scared?:

:Yes.:

:Not nearly scared enough.: The voice laughed in his head.

:What the hell is this? Why is this happening? And what the hell is happening to me?:

:Sorry kiddo. Too many questions and the answers will be detrimental to your future.:

:F.u.c.k the secrecy bullshit. How the hell is knowing more going to be bad for me, huh?:

:Kinda.:

:Well that's what this is kid. This is me trying not to provoke the butterflies. And you... you are that wind. I don't want to be the one to control what you do in the future or to point you to the end game. All that will do is change your direction and cause you to make choices based on my thoughts. And that's not helpful to you.:

Laz thought he understood where she was going with this, but he was still pissed. He wasn't a child (according to himself) and he didn't like being treated like one. But that's what was happening to him. Still, what the hell could he do about it? Fight a god? This girl, for her lack of movement and being sealed inside a coffin, gave Laz a very uncomfortable feeling, as though he was putting his hand in a bag with a poisonous snake. If he even dared to shake the bag up, he would be bitten and killed.

:So why aren't you interested in me? Why don't you try to capture me?:

:MMM.. good question. Well, to be honest, I thought about it. But even with my children's ability and strength, they wouldn't be able to restrain you. And besides which, your black flame doesn't really suit me. So it's better to work with you until you are killed or taken by someone else than it I would be to try to capture you myself. Besides, I am just a second generation god. I can't compare to those really old guys.:

:The old guys?:

:Hush. That's enough for now. You will learn, much sooner than you think.:

Laz could only make assumptions in his head. But if this girl wasn't considered strong among gods, then what was strong? Laz wasn't sure he wanted the answer to that. But this was all he could get for now. A least he had some idea what was going on.

:Good. Now that we have had a chance to speak, I need to sleep for a bit longer. It will take a while until the planet has been suffused with enough energy to allow me to get up and around and even longer for the old bastards. Still, you can expect that those who still have blood relations on this planet to start to get in contact with their kin. So if groups start forming, you'll know why. I need to have a moment with these dear children of mine so if you don't mind... get out?:

Laz barely glanced at the girls who were kneeling respectably by the coffin as he approached the now open door and walked out into the hallway. Finding the remains of a pillar, Laz sat down while taking a look out of the large, reinforced windows. He could see it was already night time and the moon was visible.

Laz could barely remember where all the time went today.

'I have to start work tomorrow.'

Laz briefly wondered whether it was a good thing to do something so trivial when his life and death were on the line, but soon brushed off that concern. He needed to have a cover story and this was a good one. He just needed to see it out till the end. And besides, somehow the door that was being opened wasn't ready to be opened just yet, so it was all just a waiting and wondering game at this point.

Laz didn't know what had happened after he left the room, but the girls soon came out, Freya first, followed by the four Ivy's. Looking at the four girls in masks following the short, big b.r.e.a.s.ted beauty, Laz couldn't help but have many different thoughts. Still, he held himself back. He didn't lose himself in the bath and he wasn't going to lose himself here either.

They weren't talking to each other either, they just had their heads down in thought. For whatever reason, they stopped the moment they exited and stood there, alone in their thoughts. It wasn't until Laz cleared his throat that they all jumped to attention and looked over at him, sitting on a concrete stump while staring back at him.

Laz felt like they had funny looks in their eyes, at least, as far as he could see.

Laz was also really wanting to ask what was up with the half masks the Ivy's were wearing, but he decided not to. Seemed like it might be dangerous.

”So...?”

”So... you can talk with our goddess?”

”Seems like it, yes.”

It was weird but the Ivy's seemed like they were mute now with their masks on. Still, hearing this from Laz was enough to cause them to murmur in a silent gasp. It was almost like hearing four lovely angels m.o.a.n at once. It was a stark contrast to the cold looks on their faces. Even Freya couldn't help but look shocked. To them, previously, it seemed like Laz was simply staring at the coffin of their goddess with strange looks on his face, like he was reacted to the things he was being shown. They had experienced the same thing when they first came in contact with her. But now, hearing that he had actually spoken to her at length was enough to shocked all of them.

It was something they could only dream about, speaking with the mother who had taken them all in and gave them a home.

Yet this man could do it.

Laz instantly noticed that there was something wrong after he acknowledged this, but he had no idea what. He knew they couldn't speak to her, but he underestimated how much of an impact she was to their lives.

It wasn't like he hadn't met a god like being before.

Still, after their shock, they all seemed to smile at the same time, as though understanding had come over them. The only person left in the dark was Laz.

”So what are your plans now? You can feel free to stay here if you wish.” Freya extended the offer, a longing in her voice. For a moment, Laz was surprised... then sorely tempted. Staying in a house of all women without another man in sight? It was ever guys teenage dream.

But he knew he could only refuse. Now wasn't the time to be distracted.

”That's alright. I have an arrangement already. Besides which, I have work tomorrow.”

”Work? What kind of work will you be doing?” This time it was Freya's turn to be surprised. What important job could he have that would make him not want to stay here? It wasn't like she didn't understand the hearts of men, yet she was told no.

”I think I am going to be a bus boy, to be honest. I'm not sure...” Laz truly wasn't. He would only hear what his job was tomorrow.

”Bus boy? No. Really. What are you going to be doing?” Freya thought he was joking, to which Laz couldn't only shake his head up and down with a strange smile on his face. Freya knew he was telling the truth.

”But why?” She asked.

”It's already been arranged. It's ok though. I shall come back to visit. I needed a safe area to cultivate anyway and it seems like there is quite a bit of energy here to do so. Much better than just being outside somewhere. As long as that's ok?” Laz asked.

Although the girls where surprised that Laz had rejected their offer, they couldn't help but smile after hearing him say he would come back, especially the Ivy's. Their condition had scared off every man they had come in contact with since they had gotten free. It wasn't as though they had been this strong all the time. Although now they didn't need to worry, there was more than one time when they had been roaming around that they had been attacked by men who wanted nothing more than to dominate them after seeing their faces. It wasn't until their clothes came off that that the men backed off instead.

But that didn't seem to scare Laz away in the least, or so they were thinking. In truth, Laz had no aversion to them, or Freya. He felt they were infected like him so he immediately had feelings of friendliness towards them. It was that reason and that reason alone that would bring him back.

”You are welcome here any time.” Freya agreed immediately. She was under orders, as best she could tell, by her goddess to keep Laz as close as possible.
