Chapter 143 - Club Life (1/2)
The message was short and sweet, 'Meet at the club at four on Friday.' There wasn't anything else. Laz was a bit nervous now that he was going to be put in the situation. Although one could argue that he had been a body guard before, that was more to a friend than a straight up employer. As such, Laz had no choice but to seriously think about a few things.
'Should I bring my gun?'
*HELL NO!* Vivi screamed at him when he asked her opinion. It was one thing to use the mini cannon of death on demon beasts and the like and another thing to use it on regular humans. She also reminded him that there was little chance that anything he ran into at the club would give him trouble.
Vivi actually liked this job for Laz as it would allow him to socialize a bit. As she said, according to her research, it was necessary for a person's Laz's age to talk to people other than her. When he asked why as he never felt that he was missing out since he had her, she responded with,
*Tell people you talk to your dog and your dog talks back and see how they respond.* Laz couldn't come up with a counter argument to that. Although it was fine to communicate with your pets, it was another thing to have long, drawn out conversations with them. Although Vivi was different, people wouldn't understand that.
Vivi also spent some time picking out Laz's clothes. Based on what Laz understood, he would basically be in normal attire but would act when warranted. This meant blending in. As such, he ended up with loose fitted dark jeans, a white tee and a black vest. Once he had that on with his pale white skin, he either looked super attractive or massively sick, depending on your preference.
*Perfect.*
”You sure?”
*Trust me. Dressing too much without knowing the situation is not a good thing. Besides, what kind of club is waves anyway?*
”Uhh...” Laz knew nothing about the club life so he had no idea what she meant by 'kind of club.' He didn't even know there was a difference, just what he had seen on shows and such.
*That's what I thought. Either way, you will blend right in. I tried researching a bit about it online but it turns out that they don't have much of an online presence.*
”Ok. I will be home later.” And with that, Laz left. He was considering more and more now getting Vivi her own phone, but something about getting a wolf a phone didn't seem right considering she couldn't talk.
'But since she can type on a computer then maybe sh could text?' Laz figured he would ask her opinion later.
Getting on the old motorcycle, Laz headed off. The drive was somewhat uneventful but he got quite the suprise when he arrived. Despite it being early, there was already a line outside to get in. As Laz walked up to the door, one of the A's greeted him and allowed him inside. Despite the complaints from the crowd, no one bothered to explain.
Going in showed a place that looked like it was going to be a battlefield. People were running all over the place, getting things cleaned and ready while several girls busied themselves behind the bar. Something else Laz noted was that there were several more people dressed in black that had security written on it. He had thought that the three A's he had run into were the only security but it seemed like there was actually a whole team. Just as Laz was going to get someone's attention, he noticed Leo walk out of the crowd and run up to him.
”You're here.”
”Of course I'm here. What do you need me to do?”
”Nothing, actually,” Leo said with a smile.
”Nothing?” Laz didn't understand.
”Well, normally you will do nothing but sit around, walk around, maybe take a drink or two and buy some interesting people a drink or two. All on the house of course.”
”This...”
”It's all part of the job. You want to look like a casual goer. The only thing I really need from you is to keep your eyes on things. Although we have a normal security team, they are mostly there for drunks and to intimidate with numbers. They might be able to handle a small fight, but they are a far cry from Arnold, Anthony and Andrew. But even then, they can only handle normal people as well.”
Laz couldn't help but raise an eyebrow to his statement. It seemed casual enough, but it seemed to speak of something else.
”Normal people?”
”Yeah. Uck... Ok. You know how things are going bat shit crazy out there right? Monsters and mutants popping up everywhere?”
”Yes...”
”Well, although it hasn't been an issue yet, what happens if one of them stumbles into this place? That's why I was looking for something a bit stronger and that's you.” Leo said with a smile before shouting out,
”Everyone. Get over here for a quick meeting.”
The entire staff gathered in only a few moments as Leo stood by Laz. They were around the bar area so all of the employees took a quick seat, leaving only Laz and Leo standing.
”Good. This here is Laz. He's going to be a special enforcer of the club from now on. When he tells you to do something, you do it. Drinks, food, even if he wants a little something special from the 'dessert' menu, he gets it for free. Clear?”
”Yes Boss.” Everyone look a hard look at Laz and noticed his slightly frail looking appearance along with his pale skin. More than a few people couldn't help but think that at least he would be easy to recognize in the crowd.
”Back to work. We open in an hour. Get those cages cleaned too. No telling what kind of girls might end up in them. And is the sound check done?” As everyone scrambled back to work, A1 walked up and patted Laz's shoulder.
”Boss really knows how to run this business. He makes sure that people get what they want so they keep coming back for more, hehehe.”
”What's the dessert menu?” Laz couldn't help but ask.
”That's... where all of our special experience enhancing treats are located. Only those who have a membership are allowed to order off of it.”
”Ah...” Laz quickly understood. After all, this was one of the best ways to earn money.
