Chapter 1195 - Mommy, I’m in Love! (1/2)
Beneath his feet were a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. He was the last warrior standing as the battle flag flapped noisily in the raging wind. The sight was very moving and tragic.
The trailer then cut to a close-up shot of Shi Hanchu…
Shi Hanchu struggled to breathe as blood dripped from his forehead and onto his eyelashes. He blinked very slowly, and the weak sounds of his breathing were worrying.
Yet another arrow was shot into the air… It pierced straight through Shi Hanchu’s armor. He winced in pain before his body finally gave in, and he knelt on the ground.
The screen faded to black. Then, there was the light and pleasant sound of bells ringing and a cheerful female voice saying, “Xie Xun…”
The screen lit up to reveal Yun Liuli wearing a flowy white robe, which swished around her fair and delicate feet. Her dark hair fell around her shoulders as she sat on a tree branch in full bloom. Words couldn’t describe how beautiful her bright smile was. There were no embellishments or descriptions. The moment she appeared in the shot, her beauty left the viewers breathless. She looked even purer than pure white.
Shi Hanchu stood under the tree with one hand on the tree and a book in the other. The love he had for the lady in the tree was evident in his eyes.
The trailer then cut to the next scene. Yun Liuli was now wearing a fire-red traditional wedding dress as maidservants bent down, carrying water and cosmetic products in their hands. She sat in front of the bronze mirror and let her maidservants apply her makeup. Tears threatening to roll down her cheeks, she closed her eyes. She then said in a soft and sad voice, “Xie Xun…”
The trailer then cut to the next scene. With a long sword in hand, Xie Xun was about to rush out. His younger brother cried while hugging his waist. His father, furious, slapped Xie Xun in the face! Even the background music became more intense.
Xie Xun turned back to face his father with a raging fire in his eyes. He roared, “And putting aside the fact that we were childhood lovers, why do we need to sacrifice a woman in exchange for the safety of Wei? Then what are all our men in Liang for? Are we supposed to just live out our days hiding beneath the skirts of women?”
“That’s because there are no capable generals in Liang!” Xie Xu’s father grabbed his son’s collar and shouted back at him at the top of his voice. “If you can do it, take your sword and rush to the battlefield! Be like your grandfather and become a war god who causes our enemies to cower in fear!”
Xie Xun’s father’s eyes then turned red. He choked up as he patted his son’s chest and lamented, “Son, if our men could rush to the battlefield and bring glory to our country, why… why would we have to sacrifice our children for the people in the borderland to have a moment of peace?”
The trailer then cut to the next scene…
Xie Xun was noticeably older, and the expression in his eyes was ruthless. He was out for blood. He sat atop his warhorse and yelled, “My warriors of Liang state, standing behind us are the unarmed civilians of Liang who are unable to defend themselves. They’re our kin. As sons, fathers, and husbands, today… even at the expense of our lives, we’ll make sure they stay safe! Today, we’ll make a last stand and do everything it takes to protect Phoenix City! We’ll live and die with the city!”
The battle scene was fierce. There were cries of the warriors as they fought! There were the loud neighs of the warhorses!
There was blood and fire!
Not only that, but the sound of a devious and cunning voice flattering someone was played in the background during this emotional and heartbreaking battle, inciting anger!
“Your Highness, right now, the people in Northern Xinjiang only know to worship the war god, Xie Xun. They don’t know that Your Highness is the one who rules over the imperial city! Your Highness… we must do something to preserve your power!”
The trailer then cut to the next scene. In the resplendent and magnificent imperial court, Xie Xun’s father went down on his knees and requested food and reinforcements. However, the man sitting on the throne had a sinister look on his face as he replied calmly, “Food? Reinforcements? Hur… isn’t Xie Xun a war god? He’ll only live up to his name if he can win the war without food or reinforcements.”
Xie Xun’s father, whose hair had now turned gray, looked up in surprise.
The trailer then cut back to the battlefield. Even the intense background music slowed down and became more somber. The light faded from Shi Hanchu’s eyes, and he hung his head, looking as if he was unable to die in peace.
