”Mm…” Bai Xiaonian sleepily responded.

Lu Jinnan pushed his luck and turned over so that his body was on top of Bai Xiaonian's. His hands pushed up her nightgown as they moved up her legs, and his breathing was all messed up.

Then, Bai Xiaonian was tricked while half asleep.

That night, the injured Lu Jinnan was very gentle and restrained. He tried to please Bai Xiaonian based on what she previously said, and it seemed to work.

When Lu Jinnan woke up, he quietly got up from the bed so that he wouldn't wake Bai Xiaonian. He was going to make some food for her.

Tang Zheng was right. When in love with someone, one would want to show them their most gentle side. Sometimes, he had to put aside his pride as a man. Although he usually wasn't as gentle as last night, Lu Jinnan felt so comfortable when Bai Xiaonian told him that it felt good.

Lu Jinnan got his assistant to bring over his clothes and the key to the neighboring apartment. When he opened Bai Xiaonian's refrigerator, he realized that there were only water bottles and ready-to-eat foods inside. She didn't even have milk or eggs.

Luckily, Lu Jinnan had planned to move into the apartment next to Bai Xiaonian's. He had asked the housekeeping auntie to replace the fresh fruits and vegetables in the apartment every time she went over to tidy up the place, in case he wanted to move in.

Lu Jinnan put on slippers and took the key to the neighboring apartment. His expression changed once he entered the apartment and opened the refrigerator.

The housekeeping auntie probably tried her luck after seeing that Lu Jinnan's apartment was always empty. Although she took the money, there wasn't a single item in his refrigerator.

Lu Jinnan pressed his lips together tightly and closed the refrigerator. He called his assistant and asked him to take care of this matter. ”If a person takes someone's money, they have to do as the person says. How can she just take the money and not do as I said? Teach her a lesson!”

Lu Jinnan's assistant understood what Lu Jinnan meant. He nodded and told his boss that he understood.

Lu Jinnan had no choice—he had to go to the supermarket to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. The moment he opened the door… he heard someone call out for him.

”Jinnan…”

There was disbelief and hesitation in that slightly shaky female voice.

Lu Jinnan turned back to see a woman staring at him in disbelief. Her makeup was impeccable, and her nails were painted a nude color. She raised a slender, imperceptibly trembling hand to cover her mouth as tears rolled down her cheeks.

The woman wore a red dress, high heels, and a black woolen coat. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders. She was tall and slim and looked sophisticated and beautiful. It was as if she had walked out of a painting.

She was incredibly choked up. ”Just… just now, I saw you hailing a taxi while in the car… I thought… I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!”

Lu Jinnan froze, seemingly unable to react to the woman in front of him.

The sophisticated woman seemed to be unable to continue speaking. She threw aside her handbag and rushed into Lu Jinnan's arms. ”Ah Nan… Where have you been? I went back home to look for you, but I couldn't find you, no matter how hard I tried! They said you bought the old house… and you would never return home!”
