5 The plan (1/2)
(Minor Edit)
Three days later, Wang Ming had still not left his house, only eating noodles, but he was getting tired of it. He needed to make a plan on what to do. Cooking would be a lot easier if he had a wheelchair, so that would have to be a priority. But the number one priority, for now, would be survival.
After an afternoon of planning, Wang Ming came down to these points:
He needs to find a steady source of income, either by self-employment or by finding a job.
Find a new place to live, since this part of Fen Zhong City wasn't safe for him anymore since he had offended Brother Hou. Cost at least 1000 yuan a month.
Get enough money to buy or rent a wheelchair since it would make his everyday life much more comfortable. It cost around 350 yuan.
To get revenge on everyone that had hurt him. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Deciding the right thing for him to do now was to go to FanLang street, which was where his food-stand still was. And retrieve it, if he had his cart, then that would solve how he could earn money though he could not sell at FanLang street anymore. Wang Ming then wore a t-shirt and pants, since his legs were still injured he couldn't wear shorts.
Slowly he made his way towards the door, again walking with his old crutches. Closing and locking it and he was finally out of the house. It was a great feeling to be out of his house, but also peculiar since he couldn't walk on his feet and had to use his crutches to walk.
As Wang Ming made his way towards the FanLang street, he could feel people staring at him with eyes of both empathy and fear. Many individuals wanted to help him, but no one dared, because of the fear of implicating their family and business. They were people and no saints.
Usually, it usually took him 5 minutes from his house to his food-cart, but this time it took almost 25 minutes. He appreciated and missed having working legs. It was still 27 days left before his legs would heal. He hoped that those days would not be too hard on him. But he was ready to fight anything and everything even if he had no fighting skills or experience in it.
Finally arriving at the FanLang street, Wang Ming saw that the cart was lying on the ground. He moved towards it and saw lots of dent marks probably from steel bats. They also poured red paint all over it. He had hoped that at least he could scavenge and restore some of it, but the liquid had destroyed everything.
Feeling pain in his heart and sad when seeing the state of the cart since it was the first object he had ever made by himself except for food. He was proud when he made it since it was also a way for him to provide for his father. But seeing the state of the cart and his situation the only sensible thing he could do was to take it to the scrappers and sell it.
He wasn't sure the best way to get it there though, probably paying someone here to transport it to the scrappers as he was thinking about whom to ask since no one wanted to interact with him. He felt a hand on his shoulder scaring him, afraid and cautious of it. Maybe being one of Brother Hou's thugs, he curled his hand into a fist.
As he jumped around in 180 degrees, his eyes and body relaxed. It was only Sister Lin (From chapter 1). Releasing a breath, he didn't even know he was holding and relaxed his body.
”Hello, Wang Ming what happened to your cart? Why are you hurt and do you need some help?” Bewilderment shrouded Lan Ling's mind when she saw Wang Ming's state and his food-cart. She still remembered it was fine when she walked by here yesterday. Though she hadn't seen him for over a month and missed his pork skewers, they had a great and unique tasting glaze on them. Who would hurt him? He didn't seem like a guy that would go around stirring up trouble.
”Thank you for being concerned with me, but it's a long story. Do you know anyone that would take this cart and deliver it to the scrappers for me? I can pay you and them 20% of what I get for it. I know it's not a lot, but It's the best I can offer.” Wang Ming didn't want to ask Sister Lin at all since she was only a customer of his and nothing more. But it was his best option right now. Since no one here wanted to talk with him.
”That shouldn't be a problem. I know some guards at my company. They should be able to help you. I will call them now. But you need not give them any money. They earn a lot every month.” Said as she smiled at Wang Ming and walked away. Lan Ling didn't know Wang Ming anymore than being his customer but seeing him in a state like that. She felt that she had to help him. There was just a small favor, anyway.
Feeling thankful and relieved, Wang Ming shouted to Lan Ling's departing back, ”I will never forget this favor, Sister Lin. If I ever open up for business again, you and your friends can eat for free for the rest of your lives!” Wang Ming didn't know that he would fulfill his promise real soon.
After Sister Lin walked away, Wang Ming sighed and leaned his back towards the cart that was still lying on the ground. He was nervous that Brother Hou's thugs would see him since they usually strolled around FanLang street and harassed people. But he had to wait for the people that Sister Lin mentioned.
