Chapter 45 - Just You Wait (1/2)

Hearing her question, Sei glanced at her and saw her holding her breath as if she was waiting for a verdict, and looking at him as if he was a supreme judge. Again, he was amused by her expression and so he answered her with one word.

”Three.”

The moment he said it, she looked like she just heard the word 'guilty' and she pouted right away like a disappointed little kid. Then, she rolled away and smothered her face into her pillow.

Ahh!! J-just three? That's too low! And he said it without even taking the time to think about it? Are you serious?

Davi was speechless and could only protest deep within her. However, after thinking about it, she realized it may not be that bad after all. Considering the kind of man he was, she thought that 30% was probably a great achievement! Plus, she still had lots of hidden cards up her sleeves.

She took a deep breath and told herself that the most important thing was making sure that things were surely moving forward, no matter how slow going it is.

What I need to do is work even harder! Let's do it!

Just you wait, Sei, I will conquer you!

Somehow, Davi was recharged and re-motivated. The disappointment on her face faded and her eyes started burning with brand new determination. Thinking about their almost month long relationship, she was happy with its development and she simply couldn't explain how warm the feelings inside her chest has become lately.

”Good night!” she finally said as she turned off the bed lamp beside her.

After some minutes, Davi finally fell asleep. Sei then sat quietly and stared at her for a long while. Afterwards, he touched her hair and whispered a soft ”good night”.

Mysteriously, the corner of his mouth slightly lifted just before he covered his eyes.
