173 Goddess of Lightning Vs Stone of Nigh (1/2)

Linri's right hand was trembling due to fear. He grabbed it with his right hand to stop the trembling. He needed to win this fight if he ever wanted to reach the level OG Linri previously reached. That was his only clue as to how to return back to his home.

”You can always surrender you know?” Rina offered him a way out. She really didn't want to fight him if possible. She was scared that she might accidentally go overboard and kill him. There was no need for more bloodshed tonight.

”You would like that wouldn't you?” Linri said as he started to walk towards her. The air around him started to freeze and whenever he said a word you could see a white mist leaving his mouth.

[Ice Armament] X 3

An armour made out of slowly covered Linri's body from head to toe leaving only his left arm which was equipped with [Bracers of Nox MK I]. Then a pair of ice sword and shield materialized on his left and right hand respectively. His face was covered by the ice helmet but Rina found Linri's eyes disturbing. His azure blue eyes had changed colour to an eerie shade of red. Unfortunately, she had not noticed the [Silver Serpent Bracelet] hidden under his armour giving the same light from its red ruby-like eyes.

Rina was surprised by that. She was sure that he was a fire mage so why did the air suddenly started to cold? Why was he covered in a suit of armour? Still, she did not any time to ask answers to these questions as the fight had already started and the environment was in her favour.

You see, this place was not made of cement, it was made of steel to keep its supernatural prisoners. There also used to be runes and enchantments protecting the whole place but due to not being maintained for a long time, they had already ceased function. Still thanks to her ability this place was like a home ground to Rina. In this place, she could cling to any surface with electromagnetism.

However, she did not back down and cling to the roof for advantage. She always welcomed the challenge. Just like Linri, she started to walk towards him, lightning sparks appearing all over her body.[1]

[Impact Bolts] X 4

Rina created two lightning bolts in her hands and threw them at Linri with [1.5x Above-average Speed]. From her point of view, Linri seemed more like a warrior than a mage. In other words, she can not let him get close to her but also at the same time she could not open too much distance between them as that would reduce the likelihood of her own attack hitting him. Her [3x Superior Accuracy] made it so that she could see even his tiniest movement but given distance this attribute would lose its usefulness.

Linri dodged the lightning bolts with his [2x Exceptional Agility] but when he got close to Rina she kept her distance with [Electric Slide] and slid back. Linri was frustrated. He wanted to surprise Rina with his sudden dodge and get in a hit. Now that she was aware of his maximum speed she should be able to guess his dodging routes and fire her shots according to it.

Since she was keen on keeping the distance and he, himself had to fight that way as well but his means were limited compared to her.

Seeing the big blocks of ice heading towards her Rina kept sliding backwards with [3x Superior Speed] until she hit the back of the room where she used [Static Cling] to climb the wall and dodging his attack.

That was fucking bullshit!! Linri was sure that this attack would hit her since she didn't have an agility stat. Let me explain why there are two movement-related stats in Autumnfall. You see, agility is used to move your body in tight spaces like for dodging attacks or doing intricate movements that require impeccable body coordination while speed is used to move your body in a single direction. That should explain why agility was always favoured over speed in the RP club. However, here we see that speed can also be used to dodge enemy attacks if used correctly. If you can simply outrun the attack why bother to dodge it, am I right?

Linri knew that a prolonged fight was not to his advantage. Compared to Rina's whooping 500 prana pool he only had a measly 200 prana pool and he had already spent 50 of it. He did not know the exact number but it should also be the same for Rina if not more. However, since she had so much prana it didn't matter to her while Linri was pained over his spent prana.

[Fast Bolts] X 4

While Linri was tracking her movement on the wall Rina shot two more lightning bolts towards his direction. He got ready to dodge them just like before but they were travelling at [3x Superior Speed], passing his [2x Exceptional Agility] by a whole rank! This, coupled with the fact that he was expecting them to be slower than before caught Linri off guard making it so that he was hit by all of them.
