107 The Thanks (1/2)
Gendor was over-joyed at first and wanted to jump out of the bed to hug Linri but he stopped himself. First, he had to ask a question.
”Wait, wait, wait, wait. If what you said is true, it still does not explain one thing?”
”Oh? Really? And what would that be?” He was frankly bored with Gendor's reactions. Was he also like that when he first arrived here?
I mean just look at him. Becoming so happy just because he found another person from his world. All of his replies were predictable and so wound up. Like telling he was a transmigrator was such an unbelievable thing to do or that people would hunt him for it. I mean was that such a bad thing to do? First people had to believe him for that to happen and secondly even if they did they had to believe that his information was worth it. In Linri's case, it was that he was afraid of accidentally changing the future and dooming himself to death in the process. What was Gendor's excuse?
Actually, now that Linri thought about it, he had recently become too cold or maybe arrogant? I mean yeah, maybe a normal human was supposed to act like how Gendor had so why was it that it bothered him so much? It was almost like his brain wanted to tell something but he couldn't figure it out. He was aware that the 'original' Linri's personality was slowly affecting him but he felt like it wasn't the case this time. Maybe it was because of his 'dreams'. Maybe dying over and over again, each and every night, started to not only affect his pain perception and survival instincts but also his personality. He was becoming desensitised towards the world. That was not good. When he wrote that bit about the 'dream' world, he only wanted to foreshadow the events to come but now it was becoming such a pain in the ass. He had to find a way to deal with it ASAP. Even though he was unwilling to I guess it was time for another talk with that bitch Solas... Wait! She could not read his thought in real-time right?... What he actually meant to say was he had to have another talk with the beautiful Goddess of Sun and all that is right Solas. Yep, that was exactly what he meant. So no Divine Punishment! Please?
”-ey! Hey! I asked you a question.” Gendor was snapping his fingers in front of his face. Linri quickly returned back to his senses. This was not the time to self-analyse.
”Yeah? Excuse me, I had something on mind. What was it again?” Gendor's face turned black and he repeated his question.
”If it was you in the first place, why did you threaten to melt my face off?” Linri raised his left eyebrow. Again with such a predictable question.
”Such a simple thing. Do you even have to ask that question? I mean don't you want to ask other questions like how I knew you were there or that why I even rescued you?”
”What do you mean asking such a simple question? You were about to fry me alive! The flames were just inches away from my face. Of course, I bloody want to know why?” To this, Linri just sighed before answering. Some people could not even take a joke.
”If you could not tell, I am a dick that's why...” Gendor was honestly not expecting an answer like that. He even had a hard time comprehending the sentence. I mean, he individually knew what each word meant but when he put them together to form a sentence, it felt like an alien language to him.
Then slowly Gendor's face started to turn red. He was fuming with anger.
”Just who the hell would threaten a person just because they are a dick!”
”Have you met me?” Gendor was so angry that the veins on his head looked like they could burst in any minute now. This bloody prick was not even taking him seriously.
”You are DEAD! I'm f*cking going to kill you!” Gendor was about lunge at him when another fireball materialised in front of his face, stopping him in his tracks.
”What now? Are you going to shoot me with you IBM particles? Or is the baby going to cry?” It was probably not a good idea to antagonise someone to this degree when they are already angry but Linri felt like he didn't care. At worst, he would lose a potential minion but that was about it.
”It's called AT-F field you assh*le!”
”Really? I honestly did not know that.” That was the truth and it actually meant something more serious but now was not the time for that. He was pretty sure that the future Linri would think hard about that subject.
”Did you even read anything I have written? How can you even get the name of my ability wrong?”
”Do I look like I care?” Actually, he did care but not because of the reasons Gendor would think so Linri did not feel like elaborating further.
”Kasaix, shut up now or I am really going to put a hole in your head.” Linri leaned back on the chair he was sitting and put his feet on the bed.
”First of all it's Linri now and how are you going to do that exactly? What now, I think it has been like one and a half month since we transmigrated here and knowing your backstory there was no way in hell that you could train your powers in that period, considering you had to hide it from the scientist of course. If you were even awake for that long that is. Looking at the state of your body I highly doubt that you can even walk straight if you got up from the bed. Just look at your muscles, I don't think they even exist. Come on then, do it. Try to punch me in the face.”
Linri clenched his fist and the fireball disappeared once more. Afterwards, he got close Gendor and pointed towards his own chin clearly provoking him. It's not like he would care about the pain. Actually, he even doubted that Gendor would punch him for real.
Gendor, on the other hand, was despairing. He knew that what Linri said was right. Even if he punched him, it wouldn't even be different than a 4-year-old's punch.
”That's what I thought...” Linri leaned back on his chair again. He started to look towards the ceiling.
”So what if I am a dick and pulled a somewhat dangerous prank. Actually, it wasn't even dangerous, after all, you know how broken my ability is. Even if you tried to, you wouldn't be able to burn yourself in my presence. Let alone from the flames that, I, personally controlled. Secondly, I went through hell to get you out of that research facility. I know you are not gonna ask why so here is the answer. It's because you are not Alex and there was a big chance that you could actually go insane from those experiments, or even worse accidentally revealing your ability, leaving you for death.” Gendor fell silent.
”Again, so what if I am a dick? I at least don't have a hero-syndrome.” Gendor looked perplexed.
”What do you mean by hero-syndrome?” Linri looked at Gendor's face wondering if he should explain what he meant.
”Okay, so you are aware that we have been here for like one and a half months right? After all, I just told you that. Then let me ask you this. Why did it take you so long to notice it was me?” Gendor thought a little before answering.
”Because I did not expect anyone to save me. I mean that was different from what I have written in the bio so I was confused.”
