21 The Determination (1/2)

Linri was surprised to hear that question from Brie. According to what Linri knew Jaime and Brie was supposed to be inseparable and as close as real siblings.

”You are asking me?”

Linri looked towards Jaime and saw the ugly expression her face. She didn't seem to have any faith in him and seemed to think he was gonna spill the beans.

”I'm not keeping anything from you. Why would you believe his nonsense?” Jaime said angrily.

”Really? From what I see he doesn't seem to be the type to spout nonsense though?” Brie answered Jaime and Linri could see the distrust she held towards Jaime.

The situation was getting out of Jaime's control and she did not seem to know what to do.

”Okay. Do you really wanna know?” asked Linri towards Brie.

”Brie don't believe him. He is a compulsive liar and if not for the pay I wouldn't even accepted his job.” said Jaime panicking.

Linri's anger was almost at the boiling level. Why was Jaime trying to discredit Linri so much? Did she think he would really tell Brie everything?

”Yes”

”Okay then listen to me carefully -”

”Stop!” shouted Jaime towards Linri and got up and slammed the table.

Linri finally had it. He was not going to humour Jaime any more.

”Shut up for a second and let me finish!” Linri shouted back and glared fiercely towards Jaime.

Thankfully it was still early hours and the shop did not really have a lot of people but the people there still gave them looks wondering what was going on.

Seeing the commotion a waiter came and asked if there was any problems.

”I'm really sorry. Me and my girlfriend were having an argument so we did not really notice we were making a scene. So sorry this happened. It won't happen again. Right?” said Linri and looked towards Jaime. She just gave a nod and did not say anything else. Hearing that it was a lovers argument waiter did not say much and nicely reminded them to be more aware of where they are in the future.

The main reason of the argument, Brie was just sitting there and looking towards them. She never saw her big sister lose her calm like this before. The Jaime she remembered was always calm no matter the situation.

”Okay where were we? Yes, I remember. Brie if you really wanna know what she is not telling you, you have to ask Jaime yourself. Because unlike what certain somebody thinks I am not somebody 'despicable enough to betray my 'dear' friends. Still now that She angered me this much and I am such a 'despicable' guy let me give you a hint. From the moment we stepped into this pastry 'every' single thing she told you was a lie. Now the ball is on your court play however you like. If you need anything I will be outside” Linri left enough money to pay for their orders and got out of the pastry.

He walked to a bench near the store and sat down. Thinking about what had transpired. No matter which angle he thinks from it did not made any sense. Why would Jaime suddenly turn so hostile? Was it because of yesterday? It was unlikely but he couldn't ignore the possibility.

After 15 minutes Linri calmed down but still felt that the treatment he got was unjust. Even if Jaime wanted to keep Brie from going to Autumnfall she did not need to insult him like this. She made him feel like he was just an object that could be thrown out the moment its was not useful any more.
