Volume 1 Chapter 26: Commence the last training

The next morning, Berzelia and I woke up early and went out to the city, but—

「I already sensed it when I woke up but isn’t the city kind of noisy?」

「You are right. It feels a bit restless.」

The atmosphere of the city was different from usual.

Or rather, more armed people were around.

「Could it be that a work opportunity for some conflict appeared?」

「Probably so. When we were fighting with Demon Lord it was like that in the towns in the vicinity of battlefields.」

「I just received a request from Kaufmann-san. A pretty difficult one, which I thought might be suitable to serve as your final training in the transportation trade.」

Words final training made me puzzled once again.

「Final training… You mean that I went through most of the cases for the transportation job?」

「Yes, later, I wanted you to do a request of the highest difficulty level and it just came in. With this, I think you will have experience with all of the basic tasks for a transportation job. 」

「…Even half a month hasn’t passed since I introduced you here and you already have covered most of the trade, you truly work at a phenomenal pace, Axel-kun.」

Dort said such a thing with cold sweat on his forehead, but that’s to be expected since I was fully focused on getting a hang of a carrier’s job as soon as possible.

「But, I finished a high difficulty request just a while ago, should I be taking even more difficult requests?　The highest difficulty, makes it sound pretty incredible. Well, I’m really happy about being able to get experience with all kinds of requests in such a short period of time.」

If it’s work that requires some kind of fine and precise skill from a carrier then I’m not sure that I will be able to complete it. As I thought that, Marion’s expression turned to a bright smile.

「It’s okay. Generally, the difficulty level for the transportation request depends on how dangerous the destination is, in other words, how much of combat prowess is required. Considering Axel-san’s combat ability, there shouldn’t be any problems. Besides… This top difficulty request was thoughtfully planned by Kaufmann-san, so it will be pretty easy to carry out.」

Having said that, Marion brings my attention to the request form placed on the table. There was written『As combat support, accompany the elite unit of combatants heading to subjugate the giant magical beasts that appeared at the primordial forest. 』

「A giant magical beast appeared… So that’s the reason for that subtle tension in the city.」

「Yes. Well, it is something that the City of Stars has already dealt with many times. I’ve already gathered the elite unit, now they only have to head out, but just in case, I decided to add someone capable to provide battle assistance. Thus, this request.」

Certainly, it wasn’t unusual to get a support for a party battle. And using a person with transportation job as a support wasn’t anything unusual as well.

「So, this is the last case in which I need to get experience as a transporter?」

「That it so. Well, all you will have to do are mostly providing potions and weapons during the battle, though going along with the movements of the conventional combat jobs might be difficult with a transportation job, but this time we are truly blessed with a support.」

While talking, Marion pointed at the request form.

There were listed occupations of the current subjugation squad.
