Chapter 17 - Volume 1 (1/2)

Around the time when a few days have passed since I started training at the transportation guild Sagittarius.

「I don’t have anything to teach to Axel-san as a beginner!」

Is what I was told by Marion when I went to Sagittarius on that day.

「Eh, isn’t this too fast?」

Marion shook her head when I involuntarily blurted out such words.

「Because Axel-san, you already can reach almost any place in the city and have learned most of the work. How many requests do you think you completed in the last few days?」

Being told that, I try to remember the work I did in the last few days. I remember that trying to learn this vast city and its routes I’ve been doing a lot of requests that were suggested as good or appropriate, but I don’t remember the exact number.

「…I guess I delivered about thirty packages?」

「The number of requests completed by Axel-san is sixty-two. Around half of them had a high degree of difficulty and about half you completed simultaneously with other requests. 」

「Huh? I’ve done so much?」

That’s more than I thought, or more precisely it’s twice as many.

Since I’ve been doing several requests at the same time, maybe my estimations have gone awry.

「But, have I done that much? Berzelia, do you remember?」

She was with me most times, so I thought she might remember, but she shook her head with a powerless smile.

「No, I was too busy training to keep up with Master. I had no composure to count requests.」

「Yes, you have been delivering at a really outrageous speed, Axel-san. An ordinary beginner would struggle to finish one or two jobs per day, but you have been doing more than ten. Naturally, I would run out of things to teach you.」

「Aah, so that’s how it is…」

Although I was just trying to learn the trade faster. I didn’t really think it would end so early.

「Actually I wanted you to work without rushing and learn the townscape and movements of people along the way… But it seems that you already know all that.」

「Yes, I properly memorized that in the last few days. Now, the town seems even more interesting than before I started this job.」

「That’s great… Though it seems that for you there was no real need to memorize the streets. I didn’t think you’d become such an airborne transporter.」

Marion says looking at the window, in the direction of the sky.

「Airborne… Well, I certainly do jump over the roofs a lot.」

「Yes, in the last few days you became famous in the transportation industry and merchant guilds as『Flying Carrier』.」

「Are you serious?」

I simply chose the fastest method of movement and was making deliveries by hopping around.

I didn’t think I would receive such a nickname.

「Well, you are working fast, punctual, and the kids really like the way you are flying through the city, of course, you would get famous.」

「Is the last one really relevant? Well, anyway, I think that jumping on the roofs is certainly faster, why is everyone else not doing it?」

Being engrossed in work for the past few days I noticed, this town has a lot of people and the differences in elevation are intense.

There are places where the path is blocked by large structures such as inner walls or guild towers, so going around using only horizontal movement is very difficult.
