Chapter 239 - Where Does He Run To? (1/2)

(Jane's PoV)

As expected.

Tom was too prideful. See? He left me even before he talked to my father properly. He could even be said as impulsive as he did what he wanted right away.

I understood that it might sting a bit knowing that I knew more than him, but it was not intentional. I had been thinking of how to make him realized his weakness, but I had never thought he would take this decision.

Was he really leaving just like that?

He had not had a proper conversation with my father yet! Was he really leaving?

”Where does he run to?” My father's voice travelled to my ears, successfully snapped me out from my annoyance.

”There must be something urgent for him to leave with Siji.” My mouth twitched as I uttered that lie.

”Isn't he your boyfriend? He is the one who called me Future Father-in-law just now, right? Where does he run to?” My father asked again, seemingly not satisfied with my answer.

”Dad, he is indeed my boyfriend. And where he went to, I have no idea since Siji is with him. They could be anywhere.” I shrugged my shoulders as I tried to explain it to my father as calm as possible.

It looked like I didn't care about his departure at all, that his presence was insignificant to me, but deep inside I was feeling annoyed and grumpy.

”Well, at least one fly has gone away.” My father harrumphed slightly as he flicked his sleeves and turned around.

I could only shake my head helplessly seeing my father stubbornness in getting between us young couple. I wonder how long it would last, though.

”How is your father?” Sanji asked as soon as he got near me.

I sighed. ”He still insists that you guys are pests.” I shrugged my shoulders.

Sanji arched his beautiful eyebrows as his eyes blinking innocently. ”It's understandable, though. Even though your father agreed to our arrangement of getting us engaged, I guess when the time really comes, he won't bear to let you go. After all, you are his one and only child. A precious daughter, on top of that. If I were to have a daughter as lovely as you, I would act the same, too.” Sanji nodded his head, acknowledging my father's behavior with a look of admiration in his gaze.

I glared at him speechlessly. Still, what he said really made sense. There was no way I could argue about that. Therefore, picking my choice wisely, I turned around and followed my father inside. I heard Sanji chuckled behind me, but I ignored him.

Humph, let's see how long you can agree to that.

We spent our night in that house. Fortunately, there was no more attack happened that night. Even though the night was still eerie, it was rather calm. However, I doubt the King of Devil from Red Sea would stop his attack. The moment those nasty shadows were eradicated, I was sure he would get the message.

Well, if he was smart, then he would realize that he couldn't do anything to the Queen's son anymore. However, as a proud creature, I highly doubted that he would think that way.

He would probably think that someone was challenging his power and he must be rushing his way here.

Facing a King of Devil, could I do it?
