Chapter 184 - Older Than Siji (1/2)
(Jane's PoV)
People said to be careful with what we were hoping for, for whatever it was, it could turn into reality.
Two seconds had not passed since I wished that I could see a red Kuntilanak. I would never thought that I would really see one.
Across the river, a Kuntilanak in red was flying slowly and stopping on top of a big stone. Since it was pretty dark and only the light from the moon was illuminating the river, the red color of her outfits felt extremely out of place and stood out in the darkness.
I guessed the perimeter Tom talked about didn't include the other side of the river.
Just like the other Kuntilanak, this one was also ugly with messy hair. Instead of white clothes, this one was wearing red dress. When the wind blew, a slight trace of blood invaded my nose which answered another of my question.
Why was it red?
Turned out it was dyed red of blood. It could be her blood, or other people's blood. Unless I saw her memory, I wouldn't know whose blood it was.
I was able to see it pretty clearly despite the distance and the darkness because it was twice bigger than usual Kuntilanak. Like, she was really big. Not human kind of big, but she was oddly big.
And yes, I was not the only one who saw her since Tom and Sanji were watching her closely, too.
However, this scene was a bit funny for me to remember. Normal people would shout in fear, or run for their lives when they saw her. Least they could do was to enter the tent in a group and locked themselves in. There was no way they could sit calmly while sipping tea, coffee, milk, or warm water like we did.
Instead of freaking out, we watched the Kuntilanak as if we were only watching a movie.
”It's red Kuntilanak.” Tom said calmly.
”I heard this kind of ghost is pretty easy to find in the area.” Sanji replied.
”Really? Why?” Tom looked at him curiously. I didn't say anything, but I was curious, too.
Sanji shrugged his shoulders. ”No idea.”
We turned our heads back to watch the red Kuntilanak again. She must have sensed that someone, or rather three people were watching her. Her glowing red eyes looked straight at us and she let out a shrill scream that I assumed was for scaring and intimidating us.
Indeed, she was scary. But after having met all of those kinds of ghosts, shadows, and other astral entities, she was not that scary.
Red Kuntilanak was a bit different from the usual Kuntilanak I met. Some of red Kuntilanaks were able to intimidate other creatures for they possessed a huge amount of grievances and resentment before they died. It could also be because of they had been used for evil deeds that they could possess that terrifying power.
However, some red Kuntilanaks were just ordinary Kuntilanaks in red.
The one in front us, she was one of the powerful red Kuntilanaks. How powerful she was, I didn't know.
”Just go! We have nothing do with you!” Tom waved his hand as he shouted towards the Kuntilanak casually. He said it as if he was just shooing a bug.
Ah, it was rude to laugh, don't laugh, Jane.
