Chapter 227 - Another side of Sophie (1/2)

While Mai Yuerui was away, Su and Kai were waiting for her outside the theatre.

It was already time for the movie.

”What is taking her so long?” Su was worried.

”I know right. She is taking more time that a regular person need.” Kai said.

”Stop it, Kai. You and your nonsense jokes.” Saying so Su hit Kai.

While was laughing suddenly Kai's eyes fell on a girl he thought he knew at a shop.

”You wait here for us. I will go look for her.” Saying so Kai left her alone.

”Yes, I was right it's indeed her.” Kai said to himself as he saw Sophie shopping in the mall.

She was wearing her regular uniform. But she didn't have her all time pokar face expression.

In fact she looked happy and surprisingly a little bit shy.

”I never imagined that this fighter girl can smile too.” Kai said to himself.

He leaned on a pillar next to him and observed what she was doing with enthusiasm.

After a few minutes he saw her approaching a man.

He was wearing a formal shirt and pant. His hair walked combed well.

Overall he looked quite decent.

When Kai saw her approaching a man he got more interested to see what was happening.

He was not that far from them so he could hear their conversation.

”Cheng Yi, you are here. I have been waiting for you.” Sophie said.

”You know that I am not fooling around at the hospital. I was busy there.” The guy named Cheng Yi said.

”Yes... You must be busy. You are not looking good. Is hospital work exhausting for you?” She said with care.

Cheng Yi pinched his forehead and replied, ”Yes. Everyday dealing with patients made me so tired.”

”It's okay. I got the best thing to lift your mood up.” Saying so Sophie picked up a bouquet of roses from the bag she was carrying.

”My... My... It's the first time I am seeing a girl taking the initiative to give flowers to her boyfriend.” Kai was surprised.

When Kai was beeing surprised with her attitude, her boyfriend gave out a smirk after seeing the roses.

”Now, where will I take this? You know I am returning to hospital after meeting you.”

”A... You... You can throw it away in your way to the hospital. But at least take it now for my sake, please.” She said with anticipation.

”Huh... Okay. Give it to me.” Saying so Cheng Yi reached out his left hand to take the flowers with an annoyed expression on his face.

But as soon as he took the flowers a thorn of the roses pricked his thumb.

”Ah! What the hell is this?” He screamed as he instantly threw the bouquet on the floor.

”What happened?” Sophie was confused.

”Your damn bouquet hurt my thumb. See!” He showed her his thumb where there is a tiny blood.

”It's... not that ...” Sophie wanted to say something but Cheng Yi stopped her.

”What? You don't see this as a serious matter? Do you know how much important the hand is for surgeons. Our career depends on it. If that damn thorn damaged any nerve and if my hand got hurt than you do think I can become a surgeon? I will have to drop out there, where I have just got accepted as an intern. But again how will you know where the thing you do is breaking people's hand!” He was just stating whatever he thought. He didn't even think that his rude behavior was hurting his girlfriend.

”What the hell! How can he say such mean words to her for a mere cut?” Kai was shocked to see that guy's attitude towards her.

But he was more shocked to see Sophie's reply to him.

”I am sorry, Cheng Yi. I didn't notice when I was binding the flower. I should have been more careful.” Sophie said anxiously.

”Why do you waste your time in making these? In fact use that time to make money.”

”Hmm.” Sophie nodded slowly.

After that she take out a band aid from her bag and wrapped his thumb with care.

”I was already in a foul mood. I don't have the mood to talk with you now. Bye.” Saying so he was about to leave when Sophie held him by his hand.

”Wait a minute, please. I have something for you.”

Saying so she took out an envelope from her bag and placed it on Cheng Yi's hand.

Seeing the envelope the expression on her boyfriend's face instantly got lighten up.

”You know I don't like it.” He said as a formality.

”Yeah. But you work so hard to pay your tution loans. Let me give you a hand.”

”But you have given me before too.” There was a cheeky smile on his face.

”So what? I am working for us, juat like how you are also working for us.”

After hearing her Cheng Yi took the envelope and left.
