Chapter 75:Aerial advantage (1/2)
”How the f**k was that happened?!”
No one knew how it turned up like this as it happened instantly. Even the person who was taking the video gasped in surprise. A second after that person appeared behind the smoke caused by the explosions, his silhouette vanished and materialized behind his enemy. It was followed by a head to fly then shortly became light particles. A System Deity, in a bird shape, floats in front of his enemy, seemingly their resonance had been canceled after he was decapitated.
A second later, Lighter's body returned to normal. He briefly touched his head and felt relieved that his head was still intact. He hastily massaged his neck as it was still fresh in his memory when the cold metallic blade severed this part.
Out of a sudden, a sensation of floating was felt by him. He glanced below just to find himself hanging in the air. His heart immediately leaped out of fear.
”As expected, the neck is one of the parts of the human body that is easy to cut, huh,” A cold mutter from behind him.
'What?!!' When Lighter heard it, a chill ran down his spines, and subconsciously gulped.
Then he noticed someone was grasping his cloth from behind. Deliberately, he glanced at the back just to see those same weird disguises, though his clothes and hood looked tattered. He tried to struggle and free himself, but he froze right away upon the idea that he would fall and die if this person behind him released his grasp on him.
Yman frowned when he saw the enemy's face. The guy was only a little older than him. He assumed that this person must be a trainee from a different academy.
So why are they attacking those juniors in this academy? He was puzzled.
He decided to put this topic at the back of his mind for now. Unhurriedly lifted his hand that was gripping the sword while pointing its tip at the right side of the enemy's neck.
Lighter gawked while thinking, 'Why my neck? Did this person think of me as a chicken? Maybe this person a neck-freak!'
Once again, that familiar sensation was on his neck, a sharp tip of a weapon was poking on it 'Ahhhhhh!' A shrill so loud escaped from his mouth out of fear.
Then he begged, ”P-Please bro stop! D-Don't kill me! I don't want to die! Please, mercy! Spare my neck!” He cried out in trembling voices.
Yman mulled, if Yana was the one who had been receiving those hits from the glass shards awhile ago, he was afraid she wouldn't survive. Supposedly that fate happened, could these people be able to revive her if he begged them? Of course not! He was even sure that these people would just laugh and mock him. Just the thought of it made Yman simmer with resentment towards these people.
Honestly, he cared not if they did it to others, but he wanted to vent his anger for almost killing the most precious person in his life; these kinds of people were unworthy of mercy.
”Ahhhhhhh! No, no, no, no!!!” Lighter tried to struggle and free himself, disregarding the thought that he might fall. What he was thinking at this point was to avoid being decapitated once again.
Yet,
The coldness of the tip of the Gladius sword started to penetrate on his neck. Blood percolating from his skin.
He felt regretful that he chose to come here. If he knew that there was such a person in this academy, he would stay behind.
Lighter had realized something, 'Wait, is this person the one they called Lady Ice? This academy's strongest trainee? The Ace? But they said she's gone for almost three months! Did she return already?
No! this person is not the Ace, I couldn't feel a strong surge of mana from him.
However, at this person, I felt an eerie feeling instead. Wait, this is weird, his mana wasn't as dense as the junior trainee like mine! If my guess won't upset me, he was a level 4 magician only. Then how was he able to defeat me? Impossible!'
Only now that Lighter realized that something wasn't right.
*Gulp!*
Even though they were 50 meters above the ground, and the wind was strong at this height, yet beads of sweats tickled his forehead.
Lighter closed his eyes and succumbed to his predetermined death when that cold sensation on the tip of Gladius sword was penetrating deeper and deeper on his neck. He had no strength to struggle further.
His deity tried to help him by perking on Yman's hand.
Blood splattered every time its pointed beak pierces his hands, but the wounds it dealt immediately healed by his modified healing ability.
”Blaze?!” Lighter weakly muttered his deity's name with tears.
Yman grinned at the deity's struggle of helping his partner to escape from his grasp.
Blood was dripping when the tip of the sword went deeper.
However,
Contrary to Lighter's expectation, his vision turned hazy when the sensation of being dragged and thrown came at him. *Thud!* it was followed by a dull sound when he bumped into something. No, it was someone!
Yman had to do it after killing intent was felt from his back. He couldn't let himself be careless, if he wasn't wrong, after activating his Black Mana, all of his attributes doubled. Since he was level 2 magician, then currently, he was as strong as level 4 magician.
And probably, his opponents were at most level 6-7. Thanks to his Black Mana and Channeling abilities that enable him to reduce their senses, he could mislead their attacks by creating an illusion of himself that only he and the one under it were able to see.
After Lighter bumped onto his comrade, he heard an annoying tongue clicking noise, ”Tsk!” That person didn't bother to catch him, and he was pushed aside by that person's forearm.
Because of this, He found himself falling.
”You! Dumbass!” He shouted as he fell, and his voice trailed lower and lower.
Without wasting time, Yman flipped back as he scattered his mana once again. It was mixing into the air.
Shing!
Just right after he flipped, a sword coated in wind element slashed at his position in the past half a second.
”Eh? Why those people...?” Jun was surprised when he glanced at Sierra and saw those two people who were trying to pincer her suddenly left her at her own devices. Then he glanced at the back and gawked in disbelief.
”H-Ho-How did -- he was alive?!” Jun screamed from what he was seeing. The person that should be crisped by now was still alive. Not only that, but he also saw an enemy -- was falling. However, one of his comrades caught him before he crashed onto the ground.
”How come the situation turned out like this just a moment that I looked away?” Jun mumbled.
”Jun!”
Behind him, he heard Sierra's tired voice.
”Are you okay?” Jun asked without slowing his pace.
He was embarrassed that he chose to abandon her a while ago. In his mind, he must save at-least Sylvia.
”Mhm, somehow,” she replied while gasping for breath.
'Looks like, she was not angry, but exhausted.' Jun thought.
”Let's hurry!” Jun urged her to increase their speed.
