After Jacob hurled these words, all three of them fell into an awkward silence.

Taylor remained silent because she didn't know what to say, and she decided to leave the decision up to Jacob and Emily. Emily was silently considering whether she should give this plan a shot or not. Jacob was overcome by a great anger, and he didn't know how to vent it.

For a moment, the living room had become so quiet that only the ticking of the clock could be heard.

The atmosphere was so brittle that it could be cut by a knife.

In the end, Emily was the first to break the awkward silence.

She tugged at Jacob's sleeve and said carefully, ”Jacob. I want to give it a try. Trust me, okay?”

Jacob didn't say a single word. He just fought to control his anger and stood like an immovable monument.

Seeing that he wasn't refusing outright, Emily decided to press further and try to convince him.

”Jacob, I want to be a normal person again. I want to have a normal life. Please, let me try it!” Emily looked at Jacob, a pleading look shining on her face. The glittering of clear crystal tears in her eyes shone in the reflection of the light, making her eyes seem like they were filled with stars.

Seeing her pleading like this, how could Jacob dare to refuse? He was immediately disarmed when faced by her tears.

”Okay, but you must tell me the minute that you can't handle it!” Jacob finally and reluctantly agreed.

He reached out his hand and tenderly stoked Emily's head. His eyes were full of love and affection. If at all possible, he really didn't want her to suffer through this ordeal.
