Chapter 1381 Disguise (1/2)
”Mr. Yu, you've clearly made a full recovery. I presume that you don't need me anymore. May I leave now?” Bonnie looked at her captor angrily, but she did not dare to raise her voice at him. Although she really wanted to vent her rage at him, she controlled herself as she knew he had power over her.
”As I have said before, young lady, I will do whatever it takes to keep you here, and I will never let you go!” Darren narrowed his eyes and stared at her, as if he was angry with her for her ignorance.
His unblinking gaze reminded Bonnie of his earlier threats, and she immediately fell silent as her fears surfaced. The atmosphere became so tense that she could hear her own rapid breathing.
Bonnie clenched her fists as she thought, 'You bastard! How dare you threaten me with the lives of my family! You're such a jerk!'
Anger burned in her breast, yet she didn't dare to air it out. She was afraid that if she irritated him, she would bring disaster to her family.
She had no choice but to hold back her anger. Instead she asked politely, ”Mr. Yu, I saved your life. Can I at least make a request?”
The anger in her voice might have been hidden, but the resentment and defiance in her eyes could not be ignored. Being a simple and naive woman, Bonnie was not Darren's match at all.
Darren could read her like a book. He saw the raging emotions in her eyes and found it greatly amusing. Out of the blue, he decided to make fun of her.
With a grin on his face, he smacked his lips and said, ”Of course, you can make a request. I heard that in ancient times, in order to pay tribute to one's rescuer, one would offer his or her own body. I guess I have no other choice but to offer myself to you then?”
His bold suggestion caught Bonnie completely off guard. She choked on her own saliva and coughed violently. She panicked and stammered, ”Mr. Yu, it's not necessary for you to offer yourself to me. Just let me go.”
”What if...I decided to thank you with my body?” With these daring words, Darren suddenly stepped forward and intimidatingly lifted her chin.
Bonnie swallowed hard and stared in panic at the handsome face that loomed over her. The closeness between them made her uneasy, and she stammered, ”Well, you don't have to. Just forget about it. You don't need to repay me.”
”All right.” Darren let go of her, though there was a trace of disappointment in his voice as he spoke.
As soon as his hand left her chin, Bonnie sighed quietly.
She would have believed him if she hadn't seen the obvious light of mischief in his eyes. Apparently, he had been messing with her.
