Lilian's expression instantly changed, and her joy became panic. Jacob's words made her heart tremble, and she desperately wanted to blurt out that she hadn't done it on purpose.

But no one would listen to her explanation, just as the police had refused to listen to her at the police station. They had threatened her to try and make her confess. If she hadn't maintained her innocence and hadn't been unaware of the so-called poisoning, she would have been in prison now.

”Mr. Gu...” Lilian begged, lowering her head even more and preparing to grovel.

Jacob did not answer but simply waved his hand. Suddenly, three men appeared behind him.

The men were all wearing masks and sunglasses, disguising their identities and forming an intimidating and ominous presence. Lilian couldn't help but take a few steps backward in fear.

Jacob did not seem to even notice Lilian's panic. He just laughed shortly and malevolently. ”Maim both her hands and discover her purpose in my home!”

”Yes, sir!”

Hearing his orders, Lillian quaked, but these men who were talking about this cruel business were so calm, like they were just making small talk.

”Mr. Gu...” Lilian's voice was thin and trembling. Seeing the darkness in Jacob's eyes, she suddenly changed her tune. ”Mr. Gu, I was just...”

”Do it now,” Jacob coldly reiterated.

He never indulged other people's feeble explanations. He had investigated everything about the matter, and he was sure that he knew much more than that girl. He looked around and then turned away.

But just after Jacob left, one of the men suddenly stood in front of the other two and opened his arms as if to protect Lillian. ”If we really break her hands, the girl's life will be ruined forever,” he said.

”No one can disobey Mr. Gu's order!” another man replied in a gloomy voice.

”Hey, gentlemen, please. I can leave right away. Please let me go, and I'll leave right now. In fact, I just came here for money. I don't want to have anything to do with Mr. Gu.” In truth, she hadn't been working for Darren. She had done her deeds for two reasons. One was that she had intended to seduce Jacob because she thought herself to be a beautiful woman, while Jacob was handsome and rich.
