Seeing this, Lilian quickly ran to Jacob's side, squatted and said with concern, ”Master Jacob, are you all right? Let me fetch you some hot water!”

”Fuck off!”

Jacob couldn't say anymore, because he was suddenly so weak. But then, the door was pushed open and Emi came running in.

Emily stood just beyond the door on the porch with a pumpkin in her hands.

Lilian suddenly cried out and fell into Jacob's arms. Jacob wanted nothing more than to push her away, but his arms had gone numb and were hanging limply. He didn't even have the strength to lift them.

”Master Jacob...” Lilian called out to him in a soft voice, refusing to stand up.

She even glanced at Emily from time to time. Jacob gritted his teeth in agony. How badly he wished that he could kill Lilian! She was taking advantage of his condition.

Emily cleared her throat. Only then did Lilian pretend to realize that Emily had returned home and looked at her in a show of panic. She stood up and said in a somewhat flustered voice, ”It's Master Jacob...”

”It's Master Jacob? I don't believe that my Jacob would have any interest in a girl like you!” In Lilian's eyes, Emily was just a weak patient who always spoke in soft tones. Hence, Lilian had not viewed Emily as a threat to her at all.

But now, when she heard Emily speak in such a straightforward way, she was taken aback. Thus, she rushed to explain, ”Master Jacob fell down, and I was helping him up.”

”You had to lie so close against his body, did you? Is this how you helped him up? Huh?” Emily retorted with a mocking tone, but she seemed completely indifferent to Lilian. Instead, she squatted down and untied Emi's leash. After leisurely stroking Emi's hair for a while, she stood up again, walked over to Lilian, and slapped her hard across the face.

Lilian never expected that Emily possessed such powerful strength.

”Mrs. Gu, you had no reason to slap me!”

”Well, you are nothing but a shameless harlot. Without a doubt, I have enough reason to slap you.” Emily cast a look at Jacob and noticed that his face was pale and beaded with sweat. She immediately called the butler. When the butler entered the room, Lilian burst into tears, almost crying her eyes out.

”Arrange for Lilian to prune the flower seedlings from now on. She's forbidden from stepping foot into the house!” After delivering her orders, Emily touched her palm to Jacob's forehead and asked, ”You're burning up with fever. Do we need to call an ambulance?”
