Chapter 1193 Dina Meets Ethan Again (1/2)
Emily knew it was inappropriate for her to ask Taylor this question, given their patient-doctor relationship, but she was overcome with curiosity about the answer.
It had been several months since she and Taylor had first met, but in all that time, Emily had never seen Taylor's husband, nor had Taylor mentioned him. Today at the kindergarten, even though Amy was being bullied and called a fatherless bastard by mean-spirited children, the little girl had just lowered her head, without making any effort to refute it.
Obviously, Taylor was taken aback by the question as she had not expected Emily to ask this to her. So despite her quivering heart, Taylor tried to remain calm in her actions.
”Amy's father is dead,” Taylor replied in a neutral tone.
”What?!” Emily cried out.
Being extremely surprised by Taylor's answer, it took Emily a long moment to respond to it. Then she seemed to realize her reply had been inappropriate, and she smiled awkwardly.
”There's no reason to fret. My husband passed away the year Amy was born,” Taylor told Emily, still fighting to remain indifferent. After saying that, she suddenly seemed to think of something, and she added in emphasis, ”He died as a result of a car accident.”
At that moment, Emily felt really sorry for Taylor, and she didn't quite know what to say. She had never even considered that Taylor's husband could have died.
”Dr. Tang, I'm so sorry!” Emily apologized with a contrite expression.
However, Taylor maintained her indifferent façade and waved her hand as she said, ”Take it easy. It was a long time ago.”
When they returned downstairs after Emily's session, Taylor saw that Amy was quietly sitting on the sofa in the living room watching Beryl playing with Jacob.
Taylor knew that she had owed Amy a lot over the years. When she had been a very young child, Amy had asked her mother where her father was.
Taylor had not believed that the child could process the full impact of the situation with her father, so she had just answered Amy, saying that her father was dead.
From then on, Amy hadn't asked her this question again. But Taylor knew that Amy had stopped mentioning her father simply because she didn't want to break Taylor's heart.
Amy had been a thoughtful and sensible girl from a young age, and she knew how to take care of herself, which left Taylor with the undeniable feeling that she owed her daughter a lot.
However, even until today, she still held a bitter hate for Amy's father.
Many years ago, in order to gain ownership of a piece of land, Taylor's parents had forcefully sent her to a man's bed in secret. That man was Amy's father.
It seemed that Amy had realized that someone was staring at her.
