”If Emily has disappeared, Jacob will definitely be anxious and look for her. Aren't we going to do something?”

Dina tried to feel Darren out as if she were really concerned about him. ”If Jacob finds out the truth, we will probably be involved in serious trouble!”

”So what are your thoughts about this?”

Darren narrowed his eyes at her while slowly putting down his newspaper. A scary coldness was spreading from within his smile. Then, he said in a provocative manner, ”Are you implying that I have kidnapped Emily?”

'Isn't it the truth?'

Dina thought to herself secretly, afraid of being noticed by him.

Instead, she blinked her pretty eyes vacantly and cocked her little head as if she was totally ignorant of the whole thing. Then she said innocently, ”Aren't you involved in the crime? I thought it was you who orchestrated the whole thing.”

”How could I do that?”

Darren carefully stared at her, noting each and every change in her facial expressions. Then, his eyes grew more and more gloomy.

Only when he got nothing from Dina's facial expression did he assume his normal posture. Then, he forced a smile and casually waved his hand. ”I really wish that Emily was under my control so that I could threaten Jacob, but unfortunately, I know nothing about her disappearance.”

His words were like the blows from a sledgehammer on Dina's heart.

Darren was now denying the truth.

For a moment, she quickly lowered her head and took the cup of coffee from the table to cover up the complexity of her emotions reflecting on her face for a second. Then, she slightly tightened her lips, ready to pout as usual. ”So you really have nothing to do with this?”

”Of course not! You'd better stay away from this too.”

Although Darren saw nothing in her countenance, he felt that he couldn't trust her now. Inadvertently impatient, he waved his hands. ”I am going to be pretty busy for the next few days, so I will have no time to take care of you. You'd better stay in that villa on the outskirts of the city and avoid people. But don't worry, because I will send someone to take care of you.”

What he meant by ”take care” was that he was putting her under house arrest.
