Chapter 1061 The Press Conference (1/2)
Ray was stunned and looked at Michelle with an unreadable expression on his face. Her wet hair was hanging around her cheeks. The fever had turned her face and even her collarbones red.
He cast his eyes down and pressed his lips tightly together, hiding all the emotions that bubbled from deep down.
He placed Michelle's semi-comatose body in a bathtub half-filled with cool water, allowing the water to wash away her sorrow and soothe her nerves.
Although she was still feeling a bit dizzy, her fever had finally broken. Now she was just lying comfortably in the bathtub, and she let out a sigh of contentment.
Ray placed his hand against Michelle's brow and, feeling that her fever was gone, carried her out of the bathtub. He called a maid to change her clothes and cautiously put her on the bed.
Then, Ray turned off the light and left.
It was already midnight.
The moon's glow cast a silver pattern of light on the expensive carpet. The large celestial body peeped in through the open window, but left the room in darkness. Ray was lying on his bed with his hands pillowed under his head as he looked up at the ceiling with an unreadable expression on his face.
By right, he should have taken Michelle back to Jacob instead of bringing her back to his home. But for some reason, he had instinctively brought Michelle back to his place and, for the life of him, he couldn't tell why.
He shook his head restlessly and restrained his feelings, hoping to avoid making blind and disorderly conjectures.
Ray thought to himself that the reason why he had brought Michelle home was just that he couldn't bear seeing Michelle getting involved in Emily and Jacob's marriage.
He rolled around anxiously. The more he tried to stop thinking about these things, the more they were engraved on his mind.
Ray didn't sleep at all for most of the night because his mind was full of these complicated emotions about Michelle.
When the sun rose, he had just fallen into an exhausted nap.
