Chapter 1048 Emily Disappeared (1/2)
Darren squinted at her and advanced one step closer with a dangerous smile lingering on his lips, forcing Emily to back into the corner. There was a faint, wry smile on his lips, which left Emily feeling uneasy.
He again showed the necklace to Emily and said, ”Here you are.”
”No need. It's better if you give it to Miss Li,” Emily said coldly.
She felt that Darren was acting most strange. She staggered backwards, but she was at the end of her rope, and had nowhere else to go. With her back against the wall, she turned her face away.
”You really don't care about my feelings, do you?” Darren murmured.
Head tilted, he looked at her in disappointment and hatred flared across his face as his eyes narrowed.
Without invitation, he firmly took Emily's delicate chin between a thumb and forefinger. He opened the hand that held the necklace. A piece of white cloth appeared in Emily's sight.
”Darren, how can you… Uh!”
Upon seeing the cloth, Emily knew she was in grave danger. Panic-stricken and terrified, Emily pulled her body downwards and tried to escape. But when she opened her mouth to scream for help, the suspicious material was stuffed into her mouth.
The pungent and unpleasant odor of the cloth invaded her nasal cavities and lungs. She was suddenly dizzy, and her vision blurred as she faded from consciousness. Darren's evil smile was the last thing she saw before the world turned dark.
Time skipped along and the auction was halfway to conclusion. 'Emily has been outside for an hour now, ' thought Jacob with a growing sense of unease.
”I'm going outside!”
Jacob said. He stared at the gate with concern, but he didn't see the woman he was looking for.
