Chapter 969 She Woke Up (2/2)
Thud!
He went into the room and closed the door behind him. The sound was very loud in the quiet room, but it seemed as if nothing could be heard. Rita was still huddled in the corner.
Darren stepped forward and sat down beside her. As his deep eyes took in her red and swollen eyes and her pale cheeks, he felt slightly
asted like wax, Rita was willing to endure it as long as the baby would be well protected.
Since Dylan and Beryl had been left behind in the fire and their safety was uncertain, Rita could only stay strong. Only she could save herself from this.
In a hospital
Beryl's tiny body stood outside the ICU, her clear pearl-like eyes tightly locked on the man on the bed. He was so wrapped up in medical equipment that it was almost hard to tell who he was.
It had been three days since the fire, and there was still no sign that Jacob would wake up.
”Aunt Michelle, can't my father wake up? Does he not want me and my brother?” Beryl's eyes were red and swollen, and her voice was full of grief.
Despite everything that she had been through in her short life, Beryl was still just a child. She hadn't seen her mother for nearly a month. Now her tall father, who she had believed to be indestructible, had been brought down and was lying helpless here, right in front of her. Even though she had a strong psychological constitution, she could not bear such a change.
”Beryl, your father will wake up. He will not only take care of you and your brother, but he will also find your mother! So you have to believe in your father. Only you are his strongest support. If you don't believe in him now, then how can he feel your strength and wake up?”
Michelle crouched down slightly and comforted Beryl in a soft voice.
”Well, I do believe in Daddy!” Beryl bit her lip and nodded firmly.
