”No!” Ray replied quickly. After saving her phone number, Ray answered and shut the studio door.

He had waited for Emily for so many days, and now, finally, she had contacted him herself. Even if he was busy, he would make time to take her call.

Ray leaned back on the couch and wistfully looked up at the white ceiling. ”Emil

out something I can help you with and then tell me. I have to go now.”

After saying that, Emily did not wait for Ray to answer, but immediately hung up her phone, and then hid it underneath her pillow.

Looking up at the man who entered, Emily tried not to look guilty. ”Jacob, what are you doing here? Sam said that you had an important meeting to attend.”

”The meeting finished early, so I came here. Who were you talking to just now?” Noticing Emily's wet sheets, Jacob frowned and pressed the bell for the nurse's station.

He did have a lot of important meetings over the past few days. But when he thought of Emily alone in the hospital, he would have liked nothing more than to move the office to the hospital so that he could keep her company and take care of her himself.

If Sam didn't stop him, he would have done it already.

”Nobody. I just accidentally messed some water.” Emily offered him a perfunctory grin.

Jacob thought of the sound of her choking that he had just heard from outside the door. Thinking that she might be startled by his sudden appearance, he said, ”Next time I won't show up so unannounced.”

Jacob could tell from her actions that she was scared. Why else would she explain having spewed forth water? One thing was for sure. Emily would never let Jacob know what Ray had said. Emily pouted and secretly bit her tongue. ”This was an unexpected accident. Just an accident.”

”Right, I heard Sam say that the company had experienced some trouble recently? Don't you want to share the news with me?” Emily carefully shifted the topic.
