”Why did you come back now? Aren't you suppose to be away on your business trip?” Emily asked in surprise.

As Sean finished treating her wound, he explained himself, ”Yeah! I just came back to fetch something which I forgot.”

Emily could tell that he was lying, but she didn't try to debunk his lie. Instead she asked mildly, ”What did you forget? It's unlike you to be so careless. Can I help you?”

”Nope!” He smiled and said easily, ”I can find it by myself. Your wound should be kept out of water for the next few days. Remember to take care of yourself, okay?”

”Okay!” she answered with a nod.

Sean went upstairs and quickly walked into his room. He wandered around and selected a random thing to complete his lie. When he went back downstairs, Emily's tiny figure was standing with her back to him. He strode forwards and reached out his arms, encircling her waist from behind.

Pushing his face into her neck, he whispered next to her ear, ”I don't want to go. I want stay here with you.”

His words surprised and alarmed her, and she asked, ”What about your work?”

”Nothing is more important than you,” he countered, breathing in the pleasant scent of her hair.

”But...” Emily became anxious because she wanted him to leave. However, she could not just say so, instead she replied, ”That would not be good for your work. If you gave it up every time, just to be with me, your business would suffer. What if the Lu Family went broke because of this? How would you then afford to look after me and my baby? We could not live on air.”

It was only a metaphor, of course. After all, it would be impossible for the Lu Family's century-old heritage to go bankrupt.

However, her answer lit up Sean's dark eyes. He enjoyed hearing from her mouth that he was a part of her future life. To him this meant that she still depended on him like before.

It was as if they were close again like before.

This both pleased and relieved Sean.

”Don't worry about it. I will always work hard to support you and your baby.”
