Chapter 600 Deeply In Love With Him (1/2)
Jacob's body responded more quickly than his brain did. He pressed the switch again and listened to all their conversations. What he heard not only shocked him but also roused his curiosity.
He began to wonder the meaning behind those words.
'Sean put a chip in my head to blackmail Emily, and they made a bet.
If Emily can make me fall in love with her again within one month, Sean will concede defeat and leave us alone. If Emily fails, she'll have to go back to Sean, or my life will be in danger.'
”Oh no! Emily, you foolish girl,” Jacob murmured, ”How could you fall for such a lie?”
Jacob couldn't describe his feelings at the time, but he could feel all kinds of thoughts whirling inside his head, as if something was trying to manipulate him.
Fragments pieced together in his mind, and Jacob struggled to think back, but what he got was intense pain and endless rage.
'Perhaps what Sean and Emily said was true, and a chip was really in my brain all along...'
Jacob forced himself to stop thinking about it too much. But his intuition was telling him that his life was going to be in danger as long as he had something controlling his mind.
'I must get to the bottom of this!'
Jacob, immediately called for the experts for a thorough investigation, but the results bore no fruit. All the tests showed that he was physically fit and there weren't any signs of any anomaly in his mind.
Jacob wasn't too happy with the results, but he wasn't surprised either. He sneered in his heart, 'Well, if the chip inside my head could be found easily, they would have found it by now.
Maybe the chip is tucked away in a secluded corner of my brain, so my doctor couldn't find it when Emily told him that I had a thought controlling chip in my brain. And the docter only thought Emily was talking nonsense because her mind wasn't in a healthy state at that time.
If what she was telling was true, then I have been horrible to Emily all along for no reason. Then she must have been right about my lost memories as well.'
A quiet rage brewed inside him, as Jacob couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt in his heart. He collected himself, however, because he knew that thinking about the past would only waste valuable time.
