Chapter 486: Volume 3 Epilogue (1/2)
”Wow.”
The skyscrapers, towers, and strange buildings of this world looked like something from a sci-fi movie. Flying vehicles and space ships flew inside colorful sky tunnels while many small Catopuses flew at a lower altitude.
OOOOOONG
A colossus 500-meter tall cat with a hundred long octopus tentacles flew over the sky roads. It ignored the city below him and minded his own business, flying over them at a cruising speed as if it was swimming leisurely in an ocean.
Had Miaomiao never learned that that being was a catopus, he would have thought that he had met a cat-jellyfish hybrid due to its transparent body.
Miaomiao dropped his jaw as he stared at the overgrown catopus.
”First time seeing a Cathulhu, Munya?”
”That massive thing is a Cathulhu, Munya?!”
”Indeed, Munya! All Cathulhus are deities, so you must not offend them, Munya. Now, move along, Munya.”
”…”
…
Meowmeow took Miaomiao to his Pet Guild on foot.
Along the way to the office, many catopuses stared at Miaomiao in curiosity. Fortunately, nobody attacked him after they noticed the leash and the leather choker. The local cats simply sized Miaomiao up for a moment before they continued their businesses, such as sunbathing, napping, or licking their fur.
The local catopuses traveled by swimming through the air as if they were in the ocean. They wiggled, shrank, and extended their tentacles to propel themselves forward.
POOF
As they were traveling together, a nearby cat farted and released ink gas into the air. A drop of poop also came out from its naked butt.
A black catopus with a blue police hat and a tiny blue uniform on its upper body blew a whistle. It flew to the farting cat and gave him a ticket.
”MUNYA! Farting and Public Inking is strictly prohibited, Munya!”
”My bad, Mu-nyaaa… MUNYA! Five Catnips for the fine? That's too expensive, Munya!”
”Pay the fine in a week, or you can say goodbye to catnips in a vet's cage, Munya!”
”Mu-Nyaaaaa,” The offender cat pitifully cried.
Miaomiao stared at their interaction with a pokerface. He didn't know what to react to this cute scene.
Still, Miaomiao restrained his urge to pet every catopus he came across. Their innocent eyes, faces, and expressions melted his heart.
He didn't mind staying here for a bit longer.
Miaomiao and Meowmeow reached the Guild after 10 minutes of walking. Unfortunately, the entrance door was too small for Miaomiao to enter. Only Meowmeow and other small catopuses could access the building.
Meowmeow tied the leash to a rail and patted Miaomiao's head.
”Stay here and be a good boy, Munya!”
”…”
Miaomiao was surprised. Yet, his mouth somehow mimicked how cats looked by instinct. He squatted and rested there, behaving like a real pet.
He knew that he shouldn't degrade himself into a pet, but he couldn't resist the urge. He played along, pretending to be an animal.
As soon as Miaomiao acted like a four-leg animal, many passing-by catopuses approached him and gently patted his head with their tentacles. Some of them even licked his face or rubbed their fur against him.
Miaomiao's eyes glittered as he found these local cats too cute. He was in Heaven.
Ding
[Mu-Nyang has subscribed to your channel.]
”!!!”
Seeing the name of his new subscriber, Miaomiao widened his eyes in shock. He had never expected the renowned war hero to be interested in his channel.
[Mu-Nyang tilts his head as he watches your channel in bemusement.]
[Mu-Nyang wonders why a 3rd-rate celebrity like you is on one of his planets.]
Miaomiao immediately closed his eyes and secretly replied to Mu-Nyang.
'I used random teleportation talismans, but both of them sent me here.'
[Mu-Nyang understands your trouble.]
Ding
[Mu-Nyang has given you a quest.]
…
Side-Quest: Mu-Nyang's Request (1)
Mu-Nyang, the Ancient Cathulhu has noticed you on his turf. This is not a good sign. Fortunately, Mu-Nyang understands your predicament and likes how you behave yourself so far. He will overlook this offense just once.
Still, Mu-Nyang has recently received a request from his old friend, Uriel, to help you. However, he can't simply help for free because you hurt his friend. You need to earn it by working for him.
The request is simple. He needs you to return to Golden Heavenly Goose Planet and locate a certain runaway Catopus, who is currently hiding somewhere on the planet.
The criminal goes by the name ”Moo-Meow”. You only need to locate his whereabouts and report to Mu-Nyang through your live stream channel, and the quest will be automatically completed. You don't need to fight or apprehend the criminal.
Complete Condition: Find ”Moo-Meow”, the Catopus, and report to Mu-Nyang.
Failure Condition: You are unable to find a clue of Moo-Meow within a year.
Rewards: Mu-Nyang will give you something nice.
Failure Penalty: Mu-Nyang will brand you with a catopus curse, turning you into a catopus for the rest of eternity.
…
Side-Quest: Mu-Nyang's Request (2)
While you're home, Mu-Nyang wants you to be his eyes and ears for him.
Although Mu-Nyang doesn't discriminate against non-catopus and non-cathulhu system users, he wants you to keep an eye on humans or creatures that can use a LEVELING SYSTEM. If you find a system user with the LEVELING SYSTEM, be sure to report to him ASAP.
Complete Condition: Find and Report any Leveling System User.
Rewards: Mu-Nyang will grant you permission to access his planets.
…
While closing his eyes and reading the system quest panel behind his eyelids, Miaomiao maintained his pokerface.
'How am I going to find that criminal when I'm stuck on this planet?!'
Miaomiao didn't have to wait long. Soon, Meowmeow came out of the building with his folded tiny ears. He seemed sad.
”Sorry, Munya. The official declined my purrmission request, and they wanted to deport you, Munya.”
Meowmeow sobbed like a child, whose parents refused to allow him to keep a stray kitten as a pet.
Miaomiao sighed and petted him, ”It's fine. Maybe, you can visit me on my planet in the future.”
”That's impossible, Munya! All catopuses are not permitted to leave Mu-Nyang's Constellations, Galaxies, Star Systems, or Immortal Realm Sectors of our territory, Munya!”
”That's… harsh.”
”And that's why…” Meowmeow stared into Miaomiao's eyes with round big pupils, ”Could you form a pact and adopt me as your familiar, so you can still be my slave, Munya?”
Miaomiao had the urge to scream ”What kind of logic is that?!”
Still, having an immortal catopus as a familiar was tempting. He bit his lower lips, resisting the urge to hug the cat and bring him home.
Miaomiao was afraid of Mu-Nyang as the latter was watching him. Tricking or abducting this innocent cat with him might offend the cat god.
