Chapter 79 Consider Her That Way (1/2)
”Can we talk?” Alec asked with furrowed brows.
”En,” Tobias grunted. ”Let's talk outside.”
Nodding his head in agreement, Alec stands up from the couch.
Walking toward the apartment's balcony, both men quietly stare off at the moonlit view. Alec, leaning forward toward the balcony, stares at the moon with an unreadable expression.
Tobias, calmly with his hands in his suit pockets, also looks at the view - his usual emotionless expression on his face.
Both men remain silent, until Alec finally speaks, breaking the silence.
”What are your intentions towards Mimi?” Alec looks at the cold man beside him.
”Why does it matter to you?” Tobias said keeping his gaze on the night view.
”Because…” Alec began but quickly stopped himself from finishing his words.
Because she's my little sister damnit!
He really hated not being able to tell Tobias this, however, since he had already told him Mimi's address without her consent, he wasn't about to tell him that the two were related.
He knew when the time was right, she'd inform him. After all, only Alec know how serious family talk was for Mimi.
But hell was this hard to say without creating a misunderstanding!
Swallowing his following words, Alec speaks once more.
”Because she's someone important to me. I consider Mimi family and don't want her to get hurt.” Alec said sternly.
Because she was his family. She was his sister for crying out loud.
”You think I'd hurt her?” Tobias turned to look at his long known friend with a dark brow arched.
”No, I don't. But Mimi, although she doesn't act like it, is a very fragile person.” Alec explained with a troubled expression.
Looking at the moonlit view, Alec's blue eyes dim.
”It's not my place to tell you about her past since that's up for her to decide. But…” Alec's voice trailed off, his hand lifting to scratch his neck as if he were struggling to say the next words.
”She's been through a lot. I'm just worried you suddenly being kind towards her will affect her badly. She hasn't had a lot of good history with affection.”
Tobias, silently listening to his friend speak of the girl sleeping soundly inside, eyes darkened.
From his previous actions, he had long noticed her odd behaviors and reactions to him. Although her reactions were barely noticeable he, who was very observant towards the girl's action caught sight of them quickly.
From her blank almost empty expression to her flinching whenever he touched her, he saw it all.
It was clear to him she had a problematic past with certain forms of affection and words. Something he knew the girl wouldn't want to tell him about.
Until then, he'd be patient and wait for her to open up.
Sighing, Alec continues to speak.
”Which is why I ask about your intentions toward her. Because if they're more than…”
”I don't consider her that way.” Tobias firmly cut him off.
Abruptly turning to look at the dark-haired man beside him, Alec's eyes enlarge.
