31 Chapter 29 - Their Hopes (1/2)
The same day Katakuri left from Water 7 headed towards Big Berry Island. Big Mom had sent him to acquire the food they would get from Big Berry every year. Normally a trip like this would take longer, but he came on his faster personal ship. After seeing that both Fire King Ace and Dark King Sabo had a personal ship aside from their actual ship for faster traveling, he had decided to get one too.
The reason he had decided to take his personal ship even though it wouldn't be able to carry the yearly tribute was due to Sora. Katakuri was hoping he could find him during his journey and begin to make some connections with him. He thought that Sora most likely had similar strength to him already and in the future would be at least as strong as the Four Emperors. Due to his youth, Katakuri judged him as an anomaly like Ace and Sabo. If the Big Mom Pirates could add him to their ranks or at least ally with him they would be able to compete with Ace and Sabo!
Originally, Big Mom wanted to wait for Sora to reach the New World before she would try and marry one of her daughters to him. However, Katakuri and Smoothie thought it would be too late. Smoothie was also making her own preparations to meet Sora or deal with him. Katakuri felt he had been lucky he was sent out to Paradise to retrieve a tribute. A lot of his sibling might have attempted to fight Sora if they met him. Now, he felt he was truly unlucky since he had yet to meet Sora. He had no hopes to see Sora at Big Berry either, it was pretty isolated from all the normal routes on the Grand Line. The only normal way to arrive at Big Berry was for the Log Pose to point to it from Water 7. The only other way he could think of was through an Eternal Log Pose and there was no way a new group of pirates would know of Big Berry, much less have an Eternal Log Pose for it.
Hopefully, he would meet Sora on his way back. If he didn't he could only hope the first of his sibling to meet him wasn't stupid enough to make an enemy of him. Katakuri knew that someone with at least similar strength to himself would be capable of causing big losses to the Big Mom Pirates if angered. He would rather not have to fight him. He thought that at least a few of his sisters showed interest in him, even smoothie. Katakuri had to admit, Voi D. Sora was indeed a handsome man. Moreover, he was strong. If all went well, Katakuri could see a bright future for the Big Mom Pirates.
