Chapter 69 - Black Peaches (2/2)
“Is it dangerous?”
Gu Jin waved his hand.
“It’s not dangerous. Don’t worry. Nothing will happen.”
Zhao Ying nodded, “Yes.”
Li Ran touched her bag that was tightly wrapped around her waist. She had put the gun in there. If anything happened, she had a form of protection. The thought calmed her down.
She put the car keys into her pocket and closed the door. Then, she made a motion, indicating for the two of them to lead the way.
Everyone was deep in their own thoughts. Li Ran was puzzled while the two of them were worried. They were also afraid that Li Ran might change her mind and refused to help them.
There were a number of bungalows in this area.
Gu Jin pushed the door open and they arrived at a courtyard.
There was a peach tree that already bore fruits. The peaches were so heavy that they caused the branches to droop.
However, the peaches were abnormal. Instead of the usual white-ish pink color, they were black.
Li Ran looked at peaches curiously, which prompted Zhao Ying to explain, “When we first arrived here, the peaches were normal and tasted delicious. However, in the past month, they had mutated. We had no idea what happened.”
Gu Jin added, “I think it might have something to do with the zombie that got in the other day. It must have contaminated the peach tree!”
“Oh, right. This is a special setting used for filming. No one lives here. I don’t know where the zombie came from. It was very strange. Anyway, we had already killed it.”
Upon remembering the scene, Zhao Ying could not help but feel a chill down her spine. It was unbearable. The more she thought about it, the more disgusted she became.
Li Ran was confused.
“Were you filming here?”
“Yes.”
“What happened to your crew? It can’t be just the two of you, right?”
While looking at the surroundings, Li Ran also kept her eyes on the two of them. Her right hand was always placed on her waist bag, just in case.
At the mention of this, Gu Jin sighed.
“We were divided into four groups. There was not enough food, so each group had to go out and scavenge for supplies periodically. Once the group returned, the haul would be shared with everyone.”
“But the group who set out never came back.”
“…”
