Chapter 23 Early morning Visitor (1/2)

One fine morning at 8:00 AM - Lillian's apartment:

Lillian was still sleeping with no alarm clock to wake her up. Suddenly, there was banging on the front door. The banging sound increased after every single hit. Lillian hasn't moved or been affected by the front door banging noise. A few moments later, Lillian's mobile started ringing. Lillian fidgets around in her bed; the noise was too close and it disturbed her peaceful sleep. She got pissed off and got up from her sleep. Eyes still closed. Her mobile stopped ringing but she could hear someone banging on the front door violently. Slowly, she opened her eyes and got out of her bed. She moved like a turtle towards the front door. 'Who is it? It's so early in the morning' Lillian thought herself as she opened the front door, she saw a familiar figure, Jenna.

”Beautiful Morning Ms. Grey.” Jenna greeted her like the sunshine appearing in the dark night sky.

Lillian closed the door immediately and started walking towards the bedroom. Jenna was startled. she got shut down without any response. 'How dare Ms. Grey can ignore me?' Jenna was more furious. Now, she kept banging the door with her hands and kicking it with her shoes. Lillian's sleep slowly vanished hearing the noise. Her expression changed from sleeping and took the demonic form with veins popping on her forehead. Furiously, she walked back to the front door and opened it. The evil eyes warned her gentle editor to back off or she might face the wrath of the devil herself, who had just woken up from its sleep. Jenna felt fear curling around her body. She needed a plan to stop pissing off Lillian Grey. So, she took out the ultimate bait and handed it over to Lillian. It was a sandwich wrapped in the aluminum foil sheet. Not just any sandwich but 'Grilled Cheese sandwich' from the ”cravings food truck”. Lillian turned back to human form after seeing the sandwich, which was still hot and the aroma of cheese. She greeted Jenna with a sweet smile and finally let her in.

”What's up with you Jenna? coming to my apartment all early in the morning.” Lillian spoke casually. She totally forgot that just a few minutes back, she had almost on the verge of killing that poor soul. But it was Jenna with the Grilled cheese sandwich. She can be forgiven. Lillian prepared tea for both of them.

”I'm surprised to see your apartment this clean, Ms. Grey.” Jenna looked around.

”Yeah, you should have seen its state when I returned back from Vegas. The apartment was covered in dust and there were lizards and stuff.” Lillian gave the details precisely. Jenna almost got goosebumps just from imagining the state of the apartment. Lizards are Jenna's nightmares.

Lillian brought two cups of Lemon tea, giving one to Jenna and having the other to herself. They both drank tea and discussed the things to do today. Jenna carried a laptop with her for work. After having tea, Lillian informed Jenna to wait until she gets ready.

”Let me brush and take a shower first. I can't work otherwise. You can watch TV if you're bored. I'll be back soon.” Lillian informed and went back to her room.

Jenna took out her laptop and started working ahead of Lillian. She had the final copy of Lillian's new book, which is about to get released this weekend. Lillian came out after getting ready, She had another cup of tea before sitting down for work. Jenna told her to have the sandwich before it gets cold. The next few hours, Lillian and Jenna worked on their book diligently. The alignment, font size, the chapters arrangement, and the design; all were checked.

”Then Ms. grey. I shall submit the changes and final copy to the printers this afternoon.”

”Hmm..... good,” Lillian responded. The time went so fast that it's already afternoon now. Lillian thought Jenna might be hungry since she came over here so early.
