43 Smacked In the Forehead (2/2)
She walked through the crowd and towards the chocking man.
Middle aged housewife frantically spoke: ”Doctor! Please save my husband!”
Female doctor: ”I'll do what I can.”
She put her hand on the man shoulder: ”Excuse me, I'm going to need you to lay on the floor, I'll have to perform an emergency tracheotomy, someone get me a first aid kit, and a bottle of alcohol with the highest alcohol content.”
The doctor helped the man lay down on his back and knelt by his side.
Whilst the doctor was talking, Li Xiuying had made her way to the front of the crowd. She frowned at the woman.
Li Xiuying walked to the middle aged man's side, she held his jaw and she looked into his mouth.
She mumbled to herself: ”I can't see an obvious cause for the blockage.”
Li Xiuying: ”I need you to get into a kneeling position. Can someone help.” Two men stepped forward and stood either side of the chocking man and helped him to kneel. The female doctor who was at the patient side was forced to quickly move on her knees, so she was positioned a few steps directly in front of the patient.
Li Xiuying: ”Try to cough.”
The middle aged man tried to cough, but it was of no use.
Female doctor: ”Hey what are you doing, you're interfering with an emergency medical treatment, you are endangering...”
Li Xiuying paid no attention. She leaned the middle aged man forward whilst the two passerby's supported him.
Li Xiuying proceeded to give the man 5 sharp back blows in between the man's shoulder blades. Nothing came out.
Li Xiuying positioned herself directly behind the middle aged man. She circled her arms around the man between his umbilicus and below the rib cage. Li Xiuying made her left hand into a fist and grasped it from above with her right hand. She then started performing abdominal thrusts; she pulled in inwards and superiorly.
With the second thrust, the man cocked his head back and something flew out his mouth. The food item projected forward and hit the female doctor smack on her forehead.
Female doctor yelled: ”Aaahhhh!” She instinctively brought her hand to brush away the item on her forehead. Her forehead felt wet and she then looked at her hand. What is this? Saliva?
She looked down on the floor in front of her and saw what looked like a piece of octopus tentacle.
The middle aged man spoke between gasps: ”Thank you so much.”
Li Xiuying: ”You should still go and get assessed at the hospital, due to risk of injury from the thrusts.”
The middle aged housewife: ”Thank you so much, thank you. I'll make sure that he definitely get's checked at the hospital.”
Li Xiuying started walking back to her trolley when the voice of the female doctor rang out behind her.
Female doctor: ”Hey you, wait right there!”
